Apart from the last two, one of which couldn't even be saved by Strictly Come Dancing.

Strictly performance of SKON was just ACE!!! *sigh* Wish they'd do something like that again!

Bag Lady wouldn't have dented the charts! Not sure if the others would either.

I doubt it as well. The Manics aren't the sort of band to have continual mass appeal all the time, but they've been around longer than most and they've kept a solid fan base going.

If they'd reduced their name to MSP for a Bag Lady release, perhaps, though extremely unlikely, some teeny-boppers would've mistaken it for the latest generic pop single, or would've at least given it a listen. Bag Lady does look like a track title that the likes of Beyonce could release.

Interesting use of 'paralysis through analysis'! How can you say that Lifeblood is a state of paralysis?

Great interview, though. A good interviewer with decent questions, and thoughtful responses from James.

I got no more vacation days and really can't afford another road trip.....*facepalm!*

Though honestly, I really don't see them doing another U.S. tour this year.

I'm fairly sure they've told people it's not going to happen though.

JFPL got good critical acclaim and for an album like that it is what it was set up, if I'm honest it is the kind of albums the Manics should be making. The problem is they shouldn't attempt to write an album that is singles all the way through and fail, write one pop single and force it on the album in some way leave the rest to your imagination and you'll get many more JFPL.

I'm still waiting for the Nebraska style album

They should have split after JFPL.

Actually, they should've recorded JFPL, split and released it a year later.

Loved Journal AND Postcards. They haven't split and thank goodness for that!
