It is quite PFAYM-ish, I agree. For me that's not a bad thing, as I like PFAYM, but I know others disagree...
The thing I meant about it dating fast because of all the name-checking of current players is that I got the impression that Nicky at least would have liked the song to stick around like World in Motion or Three Lions, and those songs don't concentrate so much on specific players in the lyrics (WiM not at all, 3L to some degree but not in such a all-song-consuming manner) - the videos did, but no-one sees that when they're only listening.

Probably won't be played by me after today but at least it's fun. Much like It's Not War, they couldn't resist adding some cheap strings to the detriment of the song. At least there's no contrived guitar solo this time. With use of Empty Souls like drumming, can't see Sean agreeing to play this live other than at Swansea.

Well, it is as cheesey as I was expecting but that's fine because I'm partial to cheesey manics! Only heard it once this morning and the chorus was stuck in my head for the next two hours!
The verses are vintage clunky Nicky and strangely there's a case of putting too many syllables in such a simple song. Why the Gary Speed line says 'upon' rather than just 'on' is a bit weird. I like it though, it's a bit of fun. It'd only acquire longevity if Wales had a storming tournament regardless of the roll call of players.

I like the music and James' vocals are good, but the lyrical content means I'll likely never listen to it again.

Just watched it, it's not bad. It's upbeat, quite catchy but nothing amazing. Might just scrape into the top 100 of the singles chart Nice publicity for the band though, that's what I'm most pleased about.

I'm a champion moaner on here if I do say so myself(!) but what do the moaners expect? It's a straightforward terrace anthem for the summer. It only has 4 chords (F#m, D, A, E for verse. A, D, F#m, E for chorus from memory) so it's hardly rocket science. The Gary Speed line is poignant and caught me off guard, but the rest of the lines are cheesy at best and eye-rolling saccharine at their "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" worst. Again that's the whole point. Who gives a shit. It's all a bit of fun.

It's a right larf. Just wish there was a rap in there. Need to find the Welsh John Barnes.

That is a great chorus. Will I listen to it again? Nope. I will buy the download though
Hope Wales do well so it gets lots of plays

The verses are deliberately set to the melody of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" as that song is always sang at Welsh Sporting events. The chorus is typical Manics but it is rousing, fun and I can see this being chanted at the Welsh games. The Speed line is lovely and poignant but for once I wish the manics didn't release a song like this which should have been fun, light, etc and just wrote a song for football. It didn't need pathos to hit its mark.

It doesn't help matters that the Stone Roses are releasing their new single this evening and Radiohead just released another classic album while the Manics are dicking about with this.

Bloody awful,
It might be a bit of fun, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be good as well.
