Good to see Dennis as well as Denise. I didn't know they had a male version of that mannequin!

Had a FAB night! I'm sure I spotted Bradfield's Love Child/Ben but didn't dare say hi in case he thought I was some random mentalist! Pretty sure I eyeballed Lindz too but couldn't recognise anyone else. I got quite close to the front and because I'm an old cow it was kinda nice not to be squashed!

The two BSP fans were highly amusing. Cracking night all in all for me, a real treat because I don't gig very often.
you're Bronze Moth aren't you? I remember you telling me you were a proud armchair fan and didn't gig. Glad you enjoyed it! Have you been tempted to jump on the multiple gig bandwagon even just an ickle bit?

the manics have ruined us! Eight years ago the thought of seeing a band more than once on a tour was utterly alien to me

We're on the train back from super foggy Lincoln now. It's been a nice couple of days. It was really good to meet vituperat, sculptureofabloke and slightly_delayed. I think I was stood pretty near riot_star too but didn't say anything. Sorry about that. The queue was very friendly.

Aww, you should have come and said hi. You're no more of a random mentalist than me. Probably less so.

Was that at the MEN in 2004? I think this proves my above point. I'm glad I did it though.

Aye, this'll be eight in a tour for me, plus the Newcastle gig that Lindz kindly gave me her +1 for.

I did 10 for SATT but that was split 6/4 over the spring and winter legs.

It was at the MEN, 2004 is a scary thought though.

I wouldn't have minded going to Lincoln as haven't been in the Engine Shed yet. Last band I saw was the Editors in the Delph Bar when that was the main venue!

What are you saying? That Nicky bought him a new guitar out of feeling guilty cos he forced James to go back to Cardiff?

Yeah, pretty much. "£1,000 worth of guilt" as Nicky put it. James seemed quite happy about the whole situation.

then look what happened....

I've done four on this one, was on the barrier extreme left just along from Helen and had a lovely view of James and Nicky although felt a bit "out of it", more of an observer than participant. It made a change being able to see James actually playing his guitar. Crowd did seem less lively than the other gigs but enjoying it in their own way. I took my brother for his first Manics gig - he's 61 and not one for moshing but he really enjoyed it and bought himself a souvenir bag! I think the set list at the 4 I've seen has been slightly different every time, a great tour and would think about brum and leics but will probably be sailing in scotland that week.

Long may they tour and give us chance to continue to debate the pros/cons of their set well into this decade - have fun at the other gigs everyone :-) x

Haha, that's so cool. Bet he'd be happy enough to go to Cardiff quite frequently if he got a guitar out of it every time!
