Do you have the interview where they say he was crying? I'd be interested to see it, I don't remember that. But anyway, it's possible both happened at different times - no particular reason to think he couldn't have been both at different times, and I don't blame them for remembering the happy part.

I'm not sure where/when I heard about it, but yes any happy parts hopefully dominate their memories now.

But it definitely sounded from them at least, this time, that not during the recording of the album.

I don't think it was here I read/heard it but it does mention something along the same line. http://www.vanyaland.com/2014/08/28/...h-anniversary/ It talks about him sleeping on the sofa while they recorded the album but then it says about the drinking and crying during that "period". Maybe I misunderstood this and they did indeed mean at a point during the entire period inc the tour (like routine builder said), rather than just the recording period.

You never hear about what he did during the recording process. I'm curious to know if he turned up to the studio everyday and if he did, what was he doing?

Sleeping on the studio couch according to the article. But yeah i've never heard anything else.

Hmmm it also says this on wiki (not that wiki should be taken too seriously LOL) stuff about the album

Funny thing is, we never knew what Richey thought of the record. Maybe he thought it was fucking awful! Hence the crying...

There was an interview on YT (his last interview) and if I remember rightly he seemed happy with it. He felt his holy bible spoke more truth than any religious bible/book did.

I also remember an interview with him saying he wanted to make a perfect record and when they did this he could put a full stop to it and goto live at the coast with his dogs! Maybe he was that happy with the record he did just this!!

I'm really interested to know exactly whose lines were whos. I had in my mind the "ive been too honest with myself I should have lied like everybody else" was Richeys. On it's own it seems like he is saying he should have turned a blind eye to all the shit in the world, like a lot of people do. Then he might have been able to sleep at night! But I don't think he thought that was any way to live (ignore everything and pretend the world is great) so probably not!
