Pretty much my feelings, admittedly only after one listen. It starts off so menacing and then... totally loses it. I'm sure it'll grow on me, but yes, not what I was expecting. Hrm. The bass is quite delicious though. And after all the rofling and 'goddamnit people any mention of a bridge does not mean Richey' it does seem to be at least partly about him? Oh, Nickly.

EDIT: Also agreeing with those saying some of the lyrics sound clunky. And it sounds like James is singing 'really' instead of 'rarely'.

And as for the song.. it has me giggling. Adore the contrast between the sad lyrics and the heavy-ish disco stomp. After the first listening I was just speechless, no idea what to think, but fell in love during the second go. And now, on the millionth, I'm just... I love this band. Period.

That was good. I'm always a sucker for a good 80s sound.

Love it - F the haters F em hard!
Today's a day to celebrate being a Manics fan!
It isn't the Holy Bible - glad it isn't, that was what it was and this is what it is - an album by a band that survived and isn't afraid to be upbeat at times!
Kind of like the way the Foo Fighters reacted to Nirvana the Manics carry on and don't try to be a band they ain't for the sake of a few Richey obsessed fans! (Even though this is clearly about Richey lol - but you know what I mean!)
I'm happy so bring on whatever comments - this band is still the best in the world

Have to say I love it. It got me at the first listen when the "rediculous" chorus crashed in - god it was like Simple Minds had taken over the track and it was 1984 Its definately abt Richey.

Can you imaging this live? Brilliant. And I love the fact they seem to be really enjoying themsleves.

The more I listen, the more I love.

Doing quite well with Futurology. Of the four tracks we've heard, I'm in love with three, and feel like the fourth (Let's Go To War) will grow on me once I hear the proper album version. Good job, boys.
