It's also about the delivery. Recently James has been struggling to get the words to fit the music, so sometimes you get lines standing out as clunkers when they're not actually that bad. The verses in this song are a case in point.

Builder of Routines suffers from this appallingly.

James is a champ for trying though. Seriously some of the shit he's managed to cram into a song is remarkable.

The glaring laziness of some words trying to fit to music I think would impact any singers delivery

Yeah, on paper "Take me to the bridge had another meaning, singing it loud at the indie disco" isn't the most cringeworthy line ever. Then again, I don't recall ever going to an indie disco so I'll have to assume "take me to the bridge" is something you'll often hear students singing out loud at such a gathering...

Definitely should have led with Europa. Bridge is good, but after Europa and Let's Go To War at Brixton, it was lacking a little in comparison.
That said, it's still a great song, is just Europa is a GREAT song

I didn't understand that line at first, now I know it's a reference to Orange Juice, Felicity - I guess it makes more sense. Not that much more sense though

Yeah sometimes you have to think, fair play to the guy. I mean to fit the lines "There's no hope in the collonies so catch yourself a lifeline / Things have gone wrong too many times so catch yourself a slow boat to China" to music would have been a struggle for many.

Yeah, and one of the very best Manics songs IMO!

I could listen to this all day. That chorus is so fucking euphoric. I'm finding it difficult not to dance in my seat at work.

YES, MANICS, YES. YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN.
