I remain open minded but I fear that you’re probably right dude. And yeah, Even In Exile was definitely up there with JFPL so I was hoping for some bleed over into the new Manics record.

Hard to get a real sense of the album's sound from the filtered snippets from that, but the closest comparison I would come to would be the TBTGOG b-sides.

Point your VPNs towards New Zealand...lovely solo in there. Abbaesque is very much the watchword, especially that bass riff which sounds like Does Your Mother Know

Amazing find.

Loving that little bass riff before the chorus.

The RTF snippet teaser didn't really give an impression of what the album actually sounded like - I know this one is longer and a bit clearer, but we might find the same with this.

Oooooh me likey. Have listened a couple of times and already humming the chorus.

Very '1st single', quite poppy - undoubtedly will split opinion on here once you've all listened to it

Definitely not a song I'd imagine coming from a band on their 14th album and that's an absolutely brilliant thing. For all it's abba's qualities, it does also have the Lifeblood winter keys feel and chord progressions, would have happily sat between 1985 and TLORN. James has found his voice again and the lyrics are punchy and catching. In another era, Orwellian would have had an epic music video. Really looking forward to the rest of the album.

No idea how VPNs work so I guess I’ll wait until tomorrow 😂

Encouraging though to hear people saying it’s good, despite the similarity to ABBA.

Also for those in New Zealand, the album cover is up on the iTunes Store - something like This Is My Truth, just pointing out to the ocean
