I like strings. But at the start of the song it sounds fucking awful. Lyrics better than expected, not their worst but certainly not their best.

As soon as I heard the opening notes I groaned. I was expecting something more bombastic - not flat and tinny!!!
Oh no!!! I hope my opinion improves with listens, I really do! I was just about to post that it sounds remarkably like There By The Grace Of God!!!!

Used my trusty dictaphone recording of it and played it back to back with YLAINE.
I still love YLAINE, but this song is better. And because my dictaphone has only one speaker, I could imagine hearing it on a shitty transistor radio in the storeroom of a shop. It passed the test. |

Solid song. TBTGOG appeal.
I don't hear Aerosmith, Supremes, GNR, Kula Shaker or whatever. Just 100% Manics. Album will be different, it is always like that. |

As far as albums go...it's a mix of GATS/Lifeblood if you ask me. But then again doesn't directly relate to anything they've done before, i sometimes forget how great this band are and this song has reminded me of that. They always tread the fine line of pop and alternative rock, and when they do pop they usually do it in grand style. This almost makes me forgive them for AutumnSong, bring on the rest of the album.

I'm bloody loving it, strings, catchy, Manics-by-numbers but that's what I've always liked.
Pisses all over anything off JFPL in my opinon. |

It's very difficult to explain in words, but the end of each chorus is the same progression as a part of Grace of God, albeit in a different key. Equally, during the C of the chorus (in this new single) it has a similar on/off variation on the chord, like a section of Grace of God.

Its good but obviously been set up to be a single, the album tracks will shine in much higher regard amongst manics fans as they will sound more honest but cannot blame them for trying to reach the masses and at least its a blatant effort...although i cannot see it suceeding personally speaking.
