It's going to be a nightmare trying to get tickets for this.

I've got an idea, why don't all you guys who, during tours, can get to three or four gigs in your home city if you live in London or within relatively easy driving distance if you live elsewhere just leave this one to folk up here who generally only have one gig within reasonable travelling distance on any tour?

Where's the fun in that? We all know prime locations at Manics gigs are only for the select few!

That's a good suggestion Northern gigs are much rarer, if there's only 300 tickets it should be done slightly democratically. I'm not going anyway so ignore me.

What's more democratic than a free-for-all?

I'm not going to try - but I don't really see why just because the one gig happens in say glasgow means that only glaswegians should be allowed to go? It's just luck. There are lots of gigs in glasgow, it's hardly a rare occurrence - plus it's a pretty intimate show, which are rare anywhere!

Even if the gig was just open to people in Scotland, there still wouldn't be enough tickets for everyone who wanted to go anyway.

Seriously though it's a Glasgow/Scotland thing there must be 300 ardent Manics fans in Scotland so it would be nice to give them a chance rather than people with more money than sense coming up from all over the place.

Who's to say it's more money than sense? Perhaps they're just more ardent fans precisely because they're willing to spend a fortune to go see one gig. Why don't more Scottish people travel the same distance at similar expense to see a gig in Wales, for example?

I don't believe that but I think the notion that this is a "locals only" do is a bit daft. It's just a gig.

But some Scottish fans go to gigs all over the place anyway, so why shouldn't it work the other way round?

It's just a one-off gig with a small venue capacity. The odds are against everyone on getting tickets, regardless of your geographical location. When it comes to Wednesday, it's all going to be a matter of luck who gets through on the website/phone first.

Anyone can buy tickets. What's more democratic than that?! I would have a much better chance of getting tickets if this was a "Scots only" event but can you imagine the outcry if that was the case hahaha

It just happens to be in glasgow, because King Tuts is there. If they'd done it as a gesture to Scotland that might be different - but I think it's just the way luck is. I think anyone who wanted to see them who lives in Glasgow has had ample opportunity over the last 10 years!

Unless we are going to have to start proving scottish heritage to get in (I have scottish great great grandparents )
