I saw Simon Price after the gig when waiting to get a photo with the guys but I couldn't get near them cos people wouldn't move and let others in which annoyed me a tad but it's not the end of the world, at least I could see them close up which was still really cool.
No Sleepflower sadly but I didn't midn during the gig as I was proper lost in it, not jumped around that much at a gig for a LONG time. The crowd in the middle were going mental on most songs, really up for it and having a blast. Me and my brother and one or two others around us jumped around a lot too. My feather boa was a mess at the end, awww and my throat is so sore.
Oh, and I got to shout out Blackstar at James and he heard me but I can't remember what he said to me, but he laughed. That was funny.
Sadly still don't get the thing about Golden Platitudes, it's just so average. Looking around a bit during that song and the crowd were falling asleep which summed it up for me.
My 2nd favourite Manics gig overall, absolutely loved it, the band were on amazing form, the songs were a good choice (I believe we were spared from putting up with Kevin Carter AND Ocean Spray!) and just enjoyed seeing my favourite band in the world live again.
Oh, and I was quite pleased with BSP, they were quite good and the guitarist nearly killed himself when stepping from the stage onto the barrier which looked like it was going to end in disaster from the start and he fell awfully onto the barrier and his guitar and probably someone in the crowd too. Looked shocking and I thought he was probably dead but he got up and seemed fine but he looked pissed off. Ha.

Excellent night again, just so good to hear Masses, but it was worth the entrance money just to see Nicky`s new coat !! He looked stunning, really enjoyed chatting to Deets and her friend after, and Relic I wondered why that tissue paper was stuck between your cleavage, glad you explained.

I wish you'd asked for an explanation at the time, I'd forgotten all about it

I still feel a bit dead after last night, which is always a sign of a good time (well that and I must be getting old because nearly every single one of my limbs ached badly by the time I got home).

Setlist had its good and bad points. I prefer Peeled Apples to Jackie Collins, but I've heard both at the two gigs I've done so far on this tour, so didn't mind that they swapped that last night. I'm still enjoying Roses live and I like James' intro as well (I caught something about a soul train last night...I think) and it was nice to hear FDTW again, even if it meant no Sleepflower.

With the exception of Golden Platitudes and PFAYM, I'm having difficulty really getting into songs from the new album live tbh. I thought I really liked SKON, but there's something about it which just kind of irritates me, which is a shame. Hazelton Avenue was a bit of a nothing song as well really...I guess it was nice to hear something different, but I'd rather have heard something like All We Make Is Entertainment instead.

I really enjoyed acoustic Stay Beautiful! I just couldn't stop laughing every time everyone shouted the 'FUCK OFF!' part...and apparently neither could James We got LBN in Sheffield, so I'm glad they swapped it round for Leeds. Now I've seen acoustic You Stole The Sun a couple of times, I'd be quite happy for them to switch that back to full band tbh. It's a good crowd singalong, but I just think it works better done electric.

I think the highlight for me was the introduction of Masses to the tour, mainly because I'd been saying all day how much I hoped they would swap Ocean Spray for it, so that made me happy. I'm not sure when the last time I actually heard Masses live was, but it feels like a long time ago anyway. I still think they should have played Tsunami before it and then had Masses before ADFL, but that's just me nit-picking really.

Nicky seemed in quite lively spirits, probably helped by his new leopard print coat purchase earlier in the day. I liked his comment saying something like "You know how it is, you go into a shop and pretend you're buying a coat for your wife" and about how she has as long arms as his, so he had to try it on

Managed to get a setlist at the end, well James (not JDB) did and kindly let me have it. I think that's only three setlists I've ever actually got at Manics gigs. It says Blackburn on it at the top though, but it's most definitely the Leeds setlist

He spoke a line of it after someone shouted for it, what more do you want?!

That was a tad annoying. I'm not saying it was anyone from here, because I didn't recognise the people involved tbh, but in those circumstances when there's a barrier between you and the band and it's a very narrow gap between the wall and the tour bus, you get your autograph/photo and move away for other people. But there was a group of guys who just stood there. I managed to get James to sign my setlist just before he disappeared and also thanks to Rob for passing my setlist over everyone's heads to get to Nicky!

I'd also like to say how much better BSP were last night than in Sheffield. I was quite surprised tbh...I thought they were quite static and dull in Sheffield, but they seemed to come alive more this time. Whether that was down to copious amounts of booze before going on stage, I don't know We'd just Wiki'ed the band before they came on and I'd read about the keyboardist injuring himself at another gig and then the guitarist guy (sorry, don't know his name, but the one from Yorkshire) went and splatted himself on the barrier at this gig! I thought he'd knocked his teeth in or something, but he seemed to be ok. It looked painful though, crazy bastard.

So er yes, I had a good time. I'm glad I'm not going to a gig tonight though...I've got a non-Manics gig on Wednesday and then Manchester on Thursday, so I need to pace myself

I'll upload my photos at some point, although don't think I took as many as at Sheffield. I managed more than one of Nicky though this time, shock horror!

Oh and it was nice to speak to a few FDers at various points of the day/evening!

"All aboard the Manic Street Preachers soul train..." (or similar)?

He's been doing that for about 15 years (off and on).

In 2004, I saw them tease the intro riff. In 2010, James said the first line. After 25 gigs, what I want is to hear them play it properly just once!

The BSP singer appeared to be fairly off his head after the gig. He wandered up to the rail where we were waiting for MSP and started pointing at people and saying "I know you ... and you ... and I've seen you too."

I didn't see Noble (the guitarist) land in the audience, but I did see him jump, disappear. then balance on the barrier rail whilst playing guitar once he'd recovered himself. It was a pretty awesome display, and I'm slowly becoming a BSP fan purely because of him. He's good to watch. I was standing next to a couple of BSP / MSP fans who'd come to see both bands, and who were having a great time

People have been very selfish and grabby this tour - not anyone I recognise....but I just wanted to speak to james and get a signature at Liverpool, and he was out for a good while - but one guy got his shirt signed, several other things signed, about 4 photos with different people and wouldn't leave him alone. There were several people who just kept going on and on about more camera phone pics. It would be nice if people were a bit less selfish given how much time they were out....i've met them before so I didn't bother being really pushy....but I think people should stop being so obsessed with snapping zillions of camera phone pics and just be content with a quick word and a signature, unless there's not many people around.

Someone shut the M62 to try to keep me in Leeds, but I'm not that easily fooled, I got home eventually.

After nearly three dozen gigs, it's finally dawned on me that the best place to crotchwatch James is from Nicky's side. The zip looked a bit doubtful at one point, but it stayed up. In other crotchwatch news, Nicky seemed to be adjusting his knickers when he introduced James. It was a bit distracting.

Finally kids, if you see me wandering around with a paper hankie down my cleavage, it is NOT a fashion statement, it's just me forgetting that I put it there during the gig when I couldn't get to my pocket. I'd prefer it if you had a quiet word, rather than letting me accost James with a bosom that smells of Olbas oil. Ta.
I love this post. Random, saucy and funny which is a great combination!
