So are we pretty sure now that they're not playing at any of the venues?

100% no instore gigs & JUST signings.

Great planning yet again MSP, after pre-ordering the album 5 times, spending all day yesterday looking around WH Smith stores for the 'exclusive' vinyl edition (of which was for sale online around a month ago & still hasn't been shipped out.. AND only has 'selected singles' on it)... The last thing I want to do is pay for ANOTHER copy to be signed.

After countless acoustic competition gigs the past few weeks, they really are (again, as always) making some terrible decisions for promotion of the album/band.

I'm sure the actual band members didn't sit and strategically plan it to be like this.

They didn't do any competition gigs here in Scotland too, gutted.

yea it's not the band it's the store. They want to make some money don't they? Also, die hard fans that buy 5 copies of one album are the minority. They're promoting to the majority. You don't HAVE to order all those copies.

I wouldn't have thought it was HMV's decision for them not to play a gig...the Manics are doing three signings in one day, it was probably more to do with logistics than anything else. It's not like HMV doesn't have the capabilities to hold an instore gig, so I doubt it's any skin off their nose if the Manics play one or not.

Wonder if they'll have Sean on receipt watch. Hopefully if you do have to buy one at the particular store, it won't be a faff to then get it signed in time.

I'll be going to the Cardiff one and I'll be taking the day off to do so. Better get a move on and get my day off booked.

When we went to the LT signing in Brum in 2003, they said you could only get LT signed and only if you bought it in store blah blah, but as it happens I took the kitchen sink to get signed and security tried to stop me, but Sean basically told them to fuck off so to be fair, I think it's up to the band what they sign and it seems Sean is quite happy to exert his authority.

Oh and remember, he has guns

They are quite strict in Birmingham HMV, the security only let you approach the signing table with the booklet alone. Everything else has to be put away other than cameras/phones etc.
I think it's more down to timing issues than anything, especially if it's not wristbanded so there is not a set amount of people allowed in.

Wish they were doing one round here, bands always seem to forget the south coast exists!
