I totally agree with you.
I couldn't believe while listening to "A Little Girl Lost". why the hell didn't they make it clear on the website etc it was a cover since we don't have the album credits yet? they are acting as teenage pop bands who cover songs from the 30s pretending they're new

They're really, really not. But whatever. Let's all overreact and jump to conclusions before we've even heard anything from the band.

What song is it meant to be ripping off? The Schoolboy or A little girl lost?

It's not a cover! I really wish people would stop saying it is. It's a blatant rip off but it's not a cover.

I don't think they and their label are so stupid to rip off a song like this.

they surely got the rights to use the music, stick new lyrics to it and intentionally omitted to inform the fans

I like it except for when James sings, ruins the song for me, prefer it with Richards mellow vocals as opposed to James shouty bits.

We have heard from them.

Working on an epic 7 minute track called REWIND THE FILM. Sounds like something off Love's Forever Changes (with a dash of video games) x

Majestic - imagine Scott Walker singing Love's 'Forever Changes' as the sun sets over a Welsh seaside town."
Two things to take from that.

1. What does it matter what they say after the event? So far they've released and sold a digital song without the songwriter being credited on the MP3 file.

Where we stand right now with the knowledge we have is a very simple case of copyright infringement. Things might change when we learn more. Axelrod might be getting paid, he might not give a toss. Either way it shouldn't take someone on Twitter to credit the author of the music.

To use two obvious examples, Oasis ended up having to leave a song off What's The Story for a lot less than this and the Rolling Stones ended up making a fortune off the Verve's Bittersweet Sympathy.

2. Video games? The demo will be worth a listen...

How is a song with the same music but entirely different lyrics a cover? Is MIA's Paper Planes a cover of The Clash's Straight To Hell? Of course it isn't.

to hide the fact they don't have any new idea.

the tweets Dancing Kirby posted - thanks for those, I remember reading them now - show they have intentionally omitted to say it's not their music

And of those 35, if one was blatant plagiarism do we really think they'd be dumb enough to make it the lead track from the record, release it to radio etc?

UNLESS IT'S A DOUBLE BLUFF...

This. I can't give any answers anymore than others can. But really people assuming this has been done without permission of the original artist? I refuse to believe the Manics would be stupid enough to do that.

And just because Nicky didn't mention this in a tweet, doesn't actually prove anything either.

Manics maybe or maybe not ripping off some song:

[ ] Giving a shit
[x] Not giving a shit

I like Rewind quite a bit and it's made me excited about the album, that's all that matters to me.

ditto

Nicky can post what he likes on Twitter ..doesn't need to explain things ad infinitum. I'm sure they know what they're doing
