Expanding - And flowed, flowered for him, fluid neon origami trick, the unfolding of his distanceless home, his country, transparent 3D chessboard extending to infinity. Inner eye opening to the stepped scarlet pyramid of the Eastern Seaboard Fission Authority burning beyond the green cubes of Mitsubishi Bank of America, and high and very far away he saw the spiral arms of military systems, forever beyond his reach. And somewhere he was laughing, in a white-painted loft, distant fingers caressing the deck, tears of release streaking his face. |

Wow. Horribly grumpy and mean spirited 2/5 review in The Irish Times which seems to conclude they are too old to be allowed to continue making music that's not "edgy". Beau-Lox, as Springsteen said "Ain't no sin to be alive".
"The fuel in the group’s creative tank seemed to run dry....This is a record for people whose musical tastes have calcified...a canonical dad-rock band...All three band members are 49 years old....they’ve made an album that dads everywhere can throw on their car stereo...listlessly sighing to themselves, “Ah, sounds pretty nice.”...the writing is so obtuse and lacking in conviction...numb the brain...Vivian is familiar to the point of cliche.... the production throughout is slick to the point of feeling anaemic....totally lifeless...Fair play to the Manics. They probably enjoyed jamming these sounds out....in no way an interesting record....It doesn’t tickle listeners intellectually...as edgy as a wet carrot." https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/m...rrot-1.3456840 |

As Derek Smalls once asked, “Can I ask a practical question at this point?” Does the wetness of a carrot actually impact its edginess? Is the carrotosity of the edges a major factor regarding its vertices? Just how moist must a root vegetable be to go from edgy to non-edgy? When you think about it, most carrots are quite rounded when dry - it’s usually when they are prepared and cooked (boiled in water, for example) that they have been sliced, diced and given sharp edges. * (One Star, 1/5)

Did anyone rip the x radio track by track show? Would love to get an mp3 of that.

I dont know if there is an mp3, but I think there should be. James and Nicky talk track by track perfection. I recorded it on Sky from radio X though it wasn't straight forward, it is a brilliant recording.

That's an interesting article. I love what Nicky and James say in interviews. It's good to see the album has good reviews and hopefully will go to no 1.
