It's always the way! I agree it's a completely different experience being there to seeing the setlist roll in on Twitter/FD. I know I've scanned setlists of gigs I've not been at before and thought 'that's a bit dull/safe', but I know if I'd been there I'd have appreciated it a lot more. I loved acoustic Everlasting at Newport, simply because the crowd sounded so loud singing along and James looked really appreciative of the response. It was a nice moment that doesn't translate if you're just reading about it on the internet.

Been home about an hour, totally dead but totally hyper, goddamnit Manics.
Newport was amazing, even after a four-hour queue in the rain. Said queue was also pitiful, I know it was chucking it down, but come on Manixfans, get your 4real on. Queued with 2 of my homiest homies, it was my Sarah's first Manics gig, first queue, first barrier, I am so very proud of her. Baptism by torrential downpour. The support band were quite possibly the worst thing in the world. 'Hey guys, y'know what there's a gap in the market for? GOTH KASABIAN.' No. NO. Go away. Far, far away. And do not pose when you get there. The set was fantastic, a bit short, but I can forgive that. Not a fan of Hawley but RTF was gorgeous live, as was TSWH, both nearly had me in tears... not feeling AAFALC that much, it was alright, SMTW MUCH better than on record. AHATS greatest thing ever. So good to hear NSAF again, though not entirely convinced it worked as an opener. EI:BP was a treat. I get the impression they're giving Revol the Sleepflower treatment, ie eventually give in to years of demand, play at every gig for awhile, then file away again. Which is fine, I'm making the most of it while it's there, so much fun. Surprised by the absolute lack of GATS representation, if I had to really look for something to change I'd swap OS for something else, but gah, it was all so good. Great way to come back, they seemed to love it as much as we did. I may have come out declaring 'I AM ALIVE AGAIN' ^___^ Lovely to see Lindz again in the queue, and to meet Marwood however fleetingly while we were waiting for the band to appear hope we can talk more at Manchester! And then all the people afterwards, so many people, they were all very nice, I like Manixfanz very much. It was basically Homiefest '13 for me, with bonus spiffy new people. Nicky came out but only for about 10 seconds before getting whisked away, I managed to give him the bag o' gifts I'd brought for him, he was very sweet and was asking how I was but someone nabbed him before I could reply, then he was saying he had to rush off. Ah well. It's okay. Present handover was the important thing. There's always Manchester Quote:

He actually killed me with the Richeylove, I slithered down the barrier making wibbly noises. Apparently some silly journalist reported that he said 'this one's for you, buddy' - he said 'this one's for you BABY', after lamenting what a wonderful mind and body Richey had. Oh, Wire.

Yeah I appreciate that, it just made me laugh that it's blatantly not from this gig judging by James' hair and lack of jacket, I shall not be fooled

Hey bb! I kept an eye out but didn't spot you Alas I'm only doing Manchester now. Extremely foolish parts of my brain are trying to convince me that Bristol or London would be an excellent idea, but they are high on Wire and biscuits and I must ignore them. I really can't do any other dates. But next tour... oh, next tour. And I'll definitely be down your way sometime before the end of the year, so hopefully we can try again then!

Oh, I didn't mean there weren't calls from the crowd, rather no interaction from the band by saying something like, "I think they're going for 30-Year War, Jimbo".

Oh I get you I don't think they needed to, the response was pretty overwhelming - I was really surprised, but in a good way!
