Very lively fucking gig. Bashed around by the James mosh mob a fair bit. Very fun though. Specifically loved bald guy who had a dates t-shirt on who looked so excited and happy the whole gig.

As for the actual songs. FDTW and Sullen were fucking immense. Definite highlight of the gig. YLAINE was also the best I've ever heard. Had a brilliant time actually pogoing to that one! As for negatives AOP didn't sound great live, definitely a bit dissapointing. RTF although it sounded good enough was such a big tempo change it was a bit jarring and looooooooong. It seemed to take the wind out of people's sails. Oh, also didn't dig their other new song. Europa was excellent, the other more average one I'm talking about.

Have to say though, all in all it was a blinder. One of the best I've been to probably.

Took last night for me to realise how bad a song Futurology is, it sounds like something Snow Patrol or U2 would've released a few years go. Awful awful song, really has killed some excitement about the new album. Europa on the other hand...the complete opposite! Very promising, punchy and catchy.

The gig itself was strange, no atmosphere at all on the right the crowd were completely dead. Someone perforated my eardrum screaming so loud every 5 seconds for no reason, my brain literally vibrated. None of the band seemed as into it as usual, just a standard GH gig when they had an opportunity to do something different. Don't think ill bother with London and wait till December instead, unless the new album is all like Futurology.

They've slowed down most of the old songs live now, they really didn't have any punch last night. Especially noticeable on Faster Enola/Alone and YLU. Suppose they are getting old but still...

Quite agree with this sadly.

Loved the gig generally though, new songs were ace - particularly Europa, bit of PIL and Goldfrapp in there - From Despair To Where acoustic was great. Roll on Brixton.

That was a fantastic gig! Had a great view. Highlights for me were the new songs, thought they were really great. Also loved James' acoustic of Can't Take My Eyes Off You. The only annoying thing was being elbowed in the face a few times and shoved by drunken idiots. But overall a spectacular night!

Agreed with the first part but not with the second. Band definitely seemed into it to me (James certainly anyway). Plenty of atmosphere where I was standing too. Heard that right was fairly quiet though.

Europa is incredibly good musically but christ it's repetitive lyrically. I don't know what to make of Futurology. I think it may sound immense on record.

Did anyone else notice Sean accidentally throw his drum stick at JDB's back half way through Tolerate? haha

I saw the drum stick!!! I thought it was a great gig, James was amazing as usual and Nicky looked great. Love the 'Holy bible' stuff and new stuff sounded interesting. Such a diverse band. I still get butterflies in my tummy when going to their gigs and they seldom disappoint.

Good seeing everyone yesterday, lots of familiar faces and some new ones too. Far too many to mention. Still in pain after the gig but it was enjoyable nonetheless!!!

Here are some pics I took from my spot on the barrier:

I have a button called E.Zoom on my camera that i noticed an hour ago. Only had the thing 2 years. Took a picture of a blade of grass in the distance a minute ago. I REALLY need to read instruction manuals when i buy things. Before you all laugh hysterically at me I do know how the normal zoom works E.zoom might've been handy last night. V nice photos FSOV

Fantastic pictures, thanks. I was stood at the back, the furthest back Ive ever been at a Manics gig as I was feeling pretty terrible but was determined to be there. Really enjoyed it, thought James was definitely on form and up for it an Sean looked incredible; loved his short hair. Nicky was quiet and after reading he's not well it explained things, Hope he's better for Manchester. Totally loved the screens and the footage used during the gig.

It was great to hear James say they'll be back after the summer so probably an autumn tour to support the new album.

Did anyone catch the band afterwards? Did they come out?

Felt strange seeing them again, and without queuing.

Crowd on Nicky's side were so boring, literally no one moved; went further towards James where it was super wild - way more fun. Really enjoyed seeing them again after a 5 year break!

Not sure why James thought it was the first time he'd ever done FDTW acoustic though...
