edit:

btw. from official Charts website

(...)Elesewhere The Manic Street Preachers and Phil Collins are battling it out for supremacy in the albums market this week, according to the Official Chart Update.
Both are on course to pip The Script, last week's number one act, whose Science & Faith album is currently in third place.

I hope the Manics can get a #1, I've been checking this all week, my favourite band deserve the best placing possible. I'll celebrate if they get it tomorrow and be really pleased for them

I personally feel a bit of stuck in the middle, i want the band to have as many number ones because i think they deserve it, but on the other hand, i really don't want to imagine the crap that would come out of the Wire mouth if they achieved it.

Like actually thinking this album ranks alongside EMG in terms of quality.

Oh on anthor note, i went to my local hmv and there was no sign Postcards apart from a empty rack where they store about 5 copies, then went to the local tescos and there was no indication of Manics having a new album out, which is pretty strange.

There was loads of unsold It's not war CD singles.

On hmv.co.uk, Postcards is the number three best seller out of their entire stock, not just music.

Above it is Halo Reach (no surprises there) and the Mumford and Sons album.

MANIC Street Preachers’ teetotal Nicky Wire will be celebrating the band’s new album topping the charts with a home-cooked dinner.

Postcards From A Young Man looks set to hit the No 1 spot on Sunday.

The bassist, 41, told me at Arthur’s Day: “If we get to the top of the charts I’m going up to my mum’s for egg and chips. It’ll be the last chance to see her before we go on tour. We’ve learned 42 songs and our gimmick is to try and change the set list each night.”
