Oooh yes! What would be great (but will never ever happen), would be they drop You stole the sun or Ocean Spray and instead have All surface no feeling

Bah... I can dream can't I??

Well I'm back home, showered and having up a cup of tea after a wonderful gig.

You Love Us was a surprising starter, but got everyone going nice and early.

Peeled Apples was another surprise, I fucking loved it but I'm not sure about the rest of the crowd. Tsunami live is always brilliant, I never really listen to it but live it really works for me.

I know a lot of people hate it but Autumnsong got a good reaction. Next to me there were some youngsters (sorry, sometimes I feel every minute of my 34 years!!) who, as well as knowing all the lyrics to most of the songs, LOVED it. So good on the Manics for playing it IMO.

Some Kind Of Nothingness also went down well, but for me the best of the new songs was Golden Platitudes, which sounded immense. It followed a little rant by Nicky about Nick Clegg (I gave Nicky a supportive boo) seeing as he is our MP in Hallam (west Sheffield).

For me, I think the setlist hits the spot. They could do with perhaps replacing Ocean Spray with another new one (Billion Balconies?), butotherwise the band are on fire. But then I would say that, wouldn't I?

Oh, the acoustic bit was good. Little Baby Nothing was ace (not one of my favourites normally), and You Stole The Sun was well received too but it does lack a little.

Nicky changed into black and white leopard leggings, James was in all black, but I couldn't really see Sean behind his drums.

One other thing...This Is Yesterday was so slow I thought they were just going to stop!! But then it got going once the solo kicked in.

I agree, Sleepflower and Ocean Spray weren't quite the best build up to ADFL...a good rocker like Masses would do the trick

Just got home... Ouch. Another good un, though. Crowd was more up for it than Hull. Seems to be a pattern emerging, where every night they play a song that hasn't previously been played on the tour. I think Wire was a bit hammered though. Nearly met him, but tour bus people were gettin pissed off with him hanging around outside.

Oh no. Hope security don't whisk them away in Birmingham. Not falling for that 'they don't come out to fans' nonsense! Thank you for that thumbs up for Autumnsong Jimmi B. I think it is a good one to play for the youngsters (and the not so young like myself! ). Glad those who went had a fab evening!

No signs of any viruses as yet. Hopefully James can make it through to the end this time without getting ill!
