Is that why they didn't come out afterwards then? (presumably you have feedback from them)

![]() I fucking loved every minute of it. I'm grateful I got to see them at all. What does it fucking matter how other people act? I was there to see the manics not pick holes in the crowds behaviour. I'd rather be in a sedated crowd than a crowd full of knobheads anyway.

ah maybe I'm being a bit harsh on Autumnsong. It's actually quite a long way down on my list of not very good Manics songs.

Cheers. Glad you like 'em. It would have been nice to have been able to have taken my DSLR in, which in hindsight, I probably could have done.

The band didn't get any boos, they weren't heckled, and they got applause after each track which to me is indicative of an appreciative audience. The fact that people didn't want to jump up and down for the entire gig is down to a lot of factors, but does not necessarily indicate that the gig was not well received. Long gone are the days when the band can rely on people knowing all their stuff, and a lot of fans who grew up with them are now either no longer on the Manics wagon or just getting back on after an absence. Also, the age range of the crowd was a lot more varied compared to just 3 nights later when 30 Seconds To Mars played at the same venue. I'm not saying that there is a cut off limit for jumping up and down for entire gigs, but for me personally, I now prefer to take it all in and just enjoy myself without having to jump up and down and get pushed to high heaven. This was also the first time the band have played to people in Lincolnshire, so there were a lot of people I knew that had gone on the premise they ''aren't really into the Manics but know who they are so it was worth £20 odd as it is local". Lincolnshire folk are used to having to travel to Nottingham, Sheffield, Cambridge etc to see bands, so because they have to travel, they make sure they are 'into' (for lack of a better word) the band/person when they go. Lincoln is finally getting a chance to have big name touring bands play locally which should hopefully open up people's musical horizon - on the downside of this, some of the crowd may only know a few 'big' tracks - ADFL, and YSTSFMH perhaps. If the Manics are pissed off too as lovesean4ever has indicated then they may also want to look at the choice of tracks midway through the set that managed to kill off most of the people who were jumping and dancing. It wasn't until after James' acoustic set that the pace tried to get going again, at the time I thought it was an odd choice of tracks but on reflection it may have muted the atmosphere too much. I've been to Manics concerts in other towns which were deader than this, some of the LifeBlood tour being an example. I guess what I'm trying to do with this post is try and stand up for crowd at the Engine Shed that night. I can understand why people thought it was very average as I agree, but I don't think it was a faliure or nowhere near an atmosphere in which the band should consider it a faliure either. P.S Just to clarify, one of my first posts on this thread mentioned that the band did sign some stuff and meet fans, I spoke to my doorman pal and found it was people who had bought VIP tickets or won VIP tickets that they were meeting, they promptly left for the hotel afterwards on the bus which perhaps does indicate they weren't happy with Lincoln! You are right there MSP, Lincoln is a new place for them and it sold out pretty fast. The majority of the people in there were older and from what I heard quite a few people hadn't been to see them before. I just found it weird that everybody went mental at Motown Junk, Tsunami and ADFL.

I see what you mean Riot_Star, I got the impression there were a group of blokes in the crowd (in the middle) getting progressively more intoxicated and just waiting to start a proper mosh - Motown Junk finally gave them the incentive to start properly; some others then followed suit from there. Maybe the Manics can start up a new standing/seating policy which would suit them - only people signing a written and legal contract stating they will jump, scream and dance througout the duration of said gig can have the front rows of the venue up until the middle/rear - get the boring ones (like me) to the back
