I went to see the Anchoress in Leeds last night and randomly ended up chatting before the gig to someone who turned out to be her bassist. He mentioned that the venues had been oversold (although I've no idea how they are allowed to do that).

The Anchoress mentioned during her set how nerve wracking it was to support the Manics due to how we've treated support bands in the past (which she experienced having spent fifteen years in the pit). She also performed a cover of Small Black Flowers for good measure.

Yes it is although it might be slightly changed since that tour.

Saw Public Service Broadcasting there last autumn and they were plagued with power surge troubles (it was a local problem to that part of Bristol rather than the venue's issue) but when the music did play, it sounded incredible.

Regarding overcrowding at Shep Bush, I have found it to be like that for a while now, and have written a bit about it in my gig reviews. My worst experience was in 2017 at a Holy Holy gig, where the crowd was not only rammed but pretty unpleasant too. On Friday I used my O2 Priority app to skip the queue and got a decent place close to the front Nicky-side, but there wasn't a lot of room to move. For Saturday, as I couldn't use Priority again (and couldn't really stomach another Anchoress set) I turned up around 8pm and hoped I would find a bit of breathing space near the floor bar on the left of the crowd, which I remembered being a decent spot to stand when I saw Suede in 2019. Turned out to be a brilliant decision - I actually had a decent amount of space to move in and the aircon was fantastic! Plus it was wonderful to be able to see the whole crowd going bonkers to "Sun" et al. Saturday was truly one of the top-tier Manics gigs.

Not regretting going to the London Manics gigs, decent set lists though nothing making me feel uber-remorse, and yes, looks like night 2 should always be the winning choice in a 2 night run.

It was hyped up as being then main night but it sounded like Liam was out of his tree and the Friday (which I was at) ended up becoming Familiar To Millions.

I dare say it was fun for those that were there, though.

Its interesting people talk about the squeeze at the gig on Saturday though I was not there but the last gig I saw them in being at that venue in May 2019 was fine, personally it was quite spatial in the standing area.

I did notice there were not many tickets available neither, its possible the venue increased the capacity downstairs, the problem with SBE is that the stage is too low and has been for millions of years hence unless you were 6ft 2" you kind of struggle to see the stage.

Muse in 2017 was pretty wild but can't think of a squeeze at that venue ever.

So… is anyone else who was at the Shepherds Bush gigs now struck down with Covid like me?
Oh well, it was worth it and as long as I recover in time for Swansea it’s fine!

Was that the fan vote show? I wonder what would turn up on the set list if the Manics dared to do that!

I seem to remember a fan vote on the old website many moons ago, and people just chose Motorcycle and YSTSFMY and ADFL and Tolerate anyway.

No Little Trolls, disgusting!
