I'd love sooooooo much to hear those songs, but they would never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever do it. I can't quite write ever enough to convey how much they would never do anything this exciting.

I could live without James trying to recreate the image though, he's far more attractive now!

yes me too, I much prefer current James to GT James.

Actually although it would be fun I wouldn't want just GT songs in a gig, there are too many other songs i would miss

Definitely. Just to clarify: I'm not against them playing the songs (I'm always up for hearing different stuff at gigs!) I still think that trying to recreate the 'look' off the time would be cringe worthy to the extreme.

I reckon a double set thing with maybe 10 or 12 GT songs played back-to-back and then stuff from the other albums after the interval would be good.

It's never going to happen, but just throwing ideas around in the confines of this thread, that would be my suggestion.

I'd been thinking of something kinda like Maiden's tour, the look is similar to the original era but no identical and the songs played are only from that era but not played in any particular order. I doubt any of them (except possibly Nicky) could really pull off the full look again but something similar would be really cool.

i'd love the anniversary DVD idea suggested above, surely the record co. and/or the band themselves are sitting on tonnes of footage and material?

(as opposed to the tiny slivers that get put out as part of the deluxe Cd packages...

They could play a God Save The Manics:5 year anniversary tour for all I cared, aslong as it included Australia.

I'd be happy with an anniversary edition of the album. No need for a tour in my view, I'd much prefer new material.

Yeah i'd love an anniversary tour, I can imagine it now...

"That number was called Little Baby Nothing. And now, we'd like to put down our guitars for a moment, we're gonna play you a bit of Repeat, Stars and Stripes style..."

I don't wanna see James squeeze himself into his white jeans either with his man boobs wobbling up and down when he does star jumps!

I'd like an anniversary album with a dvd like they've down with THB and EMG reissues.

The thing with the Pixies' Doolittle tour is that Doolittle is one of a very tiny number of albums where the singles are well spaced out, the tracks work immaculately together (most have a stylistic schism halfway through where the old side 1/side 2 split would be) and which ends on a track worthy of being a last track. The only Manics album which is even close to that sort of perfect sequencing is EMG. A GT in order would see half the crowd leave after 'Little Baby Nothing'.

And if they did an Iron Maiden and jumbled it up... I dunno, I'm not sold on the idea. But then I am one of those who wouldn't be sad if GT lost half of its tracks.

Although it would be nice to see 'Tennessee'...

LOL! I'm inclined to agree with this statement.

I don't think it's beyond the realm of reason to believe they'll mount a full tour based on one of their albums (JFPL doesn't really count in that respect for obvious reasons). Most bands of a certain pedgree and longevity do it so I can't see why it would be out of the question for the Manics to give it a whirl at some point in the future.
However, I doubt GT would be the album they choose to showcase. Odds are it will either be their most popular selling album and most loved work (EMG) or it will be their most underground fan fav and critically respected work (THB). Can't see them going with any other album to tour in full other than those two.

Yeah, this. They could even do one of those "fans choose the setlist" poll type things to chose which songs on GT get played.
