I don't disbelieve that his voice is pretty good, but I haven't heard many examples of his range (as Bryter Layter was referring to) before. I guess that's a lot of people's first reaction to how he sounds on the most prominent Radiohead stuff out there.

Educate your selves.
Although probably these are the exact kinds of thing you don't like if you don't like him. Your loss

I like Thom as a singer. I prefer Gary Briggs from Haven though, myself!

It sounds more like Thom Yorke on that track rather than James. To my untrained ear at least.
James is a much blowsier singer with a richer voice and he can't disguise his Welsh accent on things like 'here' and 'hair'. It could be Thom Yorke putting on an accent, but some of the high notes are a bit muffed, I'd expect him to hit them. Perhaps the James Dean Bradfield tag means that James is playing guitar on it only rather than singing? I like both Thom Yorke and JDB as singers. So ners! |

The only Manics song where I really couldn't believe it was James singing (when I first heard it) because the voice sounded so different, is the Heavenly Version of Spectators Of Suicide.

[QUOTE=Bryter Layter;2458317]Fixed that one for you Sue.
How do you know it isn't Yorke? You may find this hard to believe, but he's actually quite the mimic vocally. Perhaps you've seen Velvet Goldmine, if so, its Thom singing on the Roxy Music covers? Have a listen if you haven't heard them, he sounds almost exactly like Brian Ferry. He also does a mean Ian Curtis and George Harrison. It wasn't the Thom Yorke one because I've heard it. I don't mind his voice tho I'm not a massive Radiohead fan but this wasn't him. |

Ladytron http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-ABhPiccnw He doesn't start singing until the 1:06 mark. 2HB (not so much like Ferry, but different nonetheless, probably more than Ladytron) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=op6qafyNIxQ Quote:
Maybe send it off to a few people here to get their opinion on who they think it might be. |
