81 games, 44 goals. He is a pundit for Eredvisse. (Dutch Premier League). For Forrest to get him was a great scalp, allready a prolific striker, then left just as prolific. 600 games near 400 goals.... |

Their greatest player wasn't even there when they won Europe's biggest club prize? Twice?
Sigh, for some people football really did start the day the Premier League kicked off.

Just done a bit of research: * NAC Breda - 81 goals in 115 matches, promotion to the Dutch top flight, call-up to Netherlands team * Celtic - not won a trophy in six years, won Scottish Cup at first attempt scoring the only goal, 57 goals in 68 appearances * Nottingham Forest - the already discussed bit of his career, World Cup call-up * Vitesse Arnhem - 25 goals in one season to qualify for UEFA Cup * Benfica - 19 goals in one season despite lack of stability (three different managers) * Feyenoord - integral in winning the UEFA Cup; 2 goals in the final and victories over PSV, Inter and Borussia Dortmund among others * Finished his career by taking two league titles at Fenerbahce before returning for a quick spell at NAC It's also worth noting that the Division 1 title (second tier) that he fired us to is the ONLY trophy we've lifted since Clough retired. Maybe not a "Forest great" per se but a great nevertheless. We broke up his strike partnership while he was at the World Cup and made promises regarding leaving that were later reneged. He deserved better. Quote:
I'll excuse you for missing John Robertson just because you added 'etc'. I was thinking along these lines a few days ago because John McGovern assists with the commentary on Radio Nottingham. How much does that name mean to most of the general populace?

Im a Liverpool supporter and had a Anfield Rd season ticket from 1976 - 1992 and in the late seventys the only team who I was worried about when we played them was Notts. Forest, they were the only team who really gave us a hard game, they were so hard to break down, not only that, they had some real hard bastards playing for them!! Kenny Burns in particular.
Do they still play that Robin Hood theme tune just before the players come out? Im sure they had the speakers on full blast in the away end !! it was deafening.

Nottingham Forest was the team I picked as a kid. Way before I'd heard of the Manics!

You were too young to appreicate the young Forest team of the 80's, they were a joy to watch, Clough Junior. Webb, Pearce, Walker, to name a few.

I did finally see him in person when he returned on loan years later but he was a shadow of his former self by then. Arghhhhhhh! I hate to disappoint.
