I think you're right. From a film called The Sun, I believe.

Thanks for that link, by the way. I've wanted to see or hear the original for years. Grim and harrowing footage.

I think it is too, I've been trying to find it for years, didn't expect it to be on youtube! It's a pretty interesting watch.

I really should look on this bit of the forum more often, I've been looking for this for ages.

i've got the dvd as part of the world at war boxset collection, very chilling and fascinating seeing the faces of evil sat in the dock facing their trial and retribution looking all dishevelled, bloated and sullen after a decade of pompous horrific failed dictatorship.

When you see the prison camps and the harrowing things that went on in them...James and Sean got the mood, music and beat for it absolutely perfect....such a heavy weightbearing song in its context but a masterpiece.

Indeed. I got a much better understanding of this song, and the horrors of the holocaust itself, after visiting the holocause exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London.

To me the slowing down music at the end of the song sounds almost as if it's a representation of the trains slowly pulling into the camps.

I agree, they capture it in music form perfectly, it would complement any exhibition on the Holocaust. It's a testament to the empathy of the band members that they produced it.

I used to live in Lambeth & visited it many times, the abiding memory are the cases of shoes & some particularly harrowing photographs. I'm still not sure it went far enough to bring it home though, but I suppose they don't want people coming out vomiting everywhere.

Or signify the slamming shut of the oven doors and the wisps of smoke into the atmosphere *cold shudders*....i find the rising slow beat of the song earlier is the mood of the procession lines
from the trains and the terrible 'selection process' the deportees were subjected to.
The lyrics say a lot but James music is like the unspoken words that speak of the horrors more....6 million screaming souls from 6 guitar strings!

My sister visited Auschwitz a few years back and took many pictures, the most bleak and foreboding place on earth even after 65 years.
I think its this that drew me into The Holy Bible when i first heard it and the importance of beating down the Holocaust denials/deniers etc.

Musically it's also quite similar to Innuendo by Queen, I find.

......ooh it has got a similar feel to it although the Queen song isn't quite tackling such a dark subject.

That whole introduction to the Nuremberg trials in that documentary is just incredible! They don't make documentaries like that anymore (probably because it's Soviet propaganda...)
