The first time I heard the song I thought it was strange album cause I was used to Send Away The Tigers and Every Thing Must Go albums. also, I didn't understand a word of what James sing... (not that I understand now) but it was different and listen to the album over and over until I feeling in love of it

... No, of course I didnt, silly My parents are big fans and they bought it, which resulted in me listening to it too.
Do you think the experience has scarred you for life? Do you get the urge to packasmanywordsintoyoursentenceswhenspeaking? Have you ever considered wearing a balaclava with your name on the forehead?

mine too!

the first time I heard THB for real (not noly in the background while making other things, as I often do with all kinds of music), as a whole album, I felt 'wow' this is good shit all the way through. like one of those albums you can listen to without ever skipping a single song.

Was slightly scared of it at first and it took a few listens. Also had a heavy cold and the nasty bunged up snotty smell in my nose suited listening to it PERFECTLY

Yes to all of those questions. I spent my goddamn childhood wearing a balaclava! Haha, no, just kidding. I do talklikethisallthetime though, which is annoying, but hardly the Manics' fault

It was either the 2nd or 3rd MSP album I bought (I did have all of my receipts at one point. Wish I'd kept them now! ) Still hadn't got round to getting my own CD player, lazy thing that I was, so snuck into my brothers room to listen to it. Thought it was scary and ace in equal measure!

I know it sounds clichι and Nick Horby-esque, but it was one of those "this cd just changed my life" moments I was blown away. Oh well, you can't blame me, I was 17!

I worked backwards from TIMTTMY, and having decided EMG was the best thing I'd ever heard I was actually rather glad it sounded so different. I sat around staring at the artwork whilst listening to it because it was one of those albums which felt like it was essential to look at the artwork whilst taking it in. Yeah, this was pre-download era, haha.

2000. I was 15. I then proceeded to try and learn to play the whole thing on bass which really helped my playing as it's an excellent beginner's album.

I remember being stuck in my room grounded by the parents when I was 10.
All I had in my room was a broken Mega Drive and a w*nk ALBA CD/Radio.
Pissed off, I put the radio on full-blast and bolted my door.
With my parents screaming at me from the other side, me holding my head in despair and frustration inside, by chance, a song which absolutely communicated what I felt came on. It was Die in the Summertime.
The following weekend - Pocket Money time!, with what I got then and what I had before, accumulated, I was able to buy the first three albums and the New Art Riot Ep second-hand for (I think about) £3.80ish.
Of course, when I got home the first thing I did was listen to DITS. Then, the whole album from the beginning. I absolutely fell in love. All it took was the lyrics; "And in these plagued streets of pity you can buy anything
For $200 anyone can conceive a God on video".
From then on I've been hooked.
So, my first imprressions of THB- Amazing beyond doubt.
I even believe (without being too dramatic) the THB album was crucial to both my educational and musical development as a teen.

I remember thinking how did they go from this to what they became i.e EMG. Not slagging it off, it just could not have been more different. Not just the music but the whole look and feel of the band. Even with what happened which Richey, it was such a dramatic change in a relatively short period of time. Compared to the Joy Division becoming early New order, it was a lot more extreme.

I got to listen to it as a small collection of mp3s that got larger and didn't really take it in as one piece... only really liked "Yes" for ages.
