I read it as Martin Sheen at first and thought wow!! Sounds interesting and different, hopefully it'll be good. I pray it's not going to be a dull video though of two guys sitting facing each other playing chess for 3.5 minutes cos who'll find that fun to watch? I hope the Manics appear, maybe they can play a game official or fans or just randomly run in at the end and start kicking the chess pieces about and playing air guitar while people walk out, be well funny.

Wow that's cool! So I was *almost* right about Gary Kasparov being in it But the boys still have to be in it themselves...and Sheeny has to break into Brian Clough at leats once.
But it shows they really are going for it this album

Please please please have the Manics playing against Kasparov and not another actor playing Fischer!
The three against one will be like something from The Goodies if they want to add to the 70's angle? I've often watched those "10 Celebrity Cameo Videos" programmes and wished the Manics had a video that could qualify? Wish granted! Very good cameo! |

Tim Roth on the album cover, "oh look, it's so bright and shiny" single cover and now one of the more popular and celebrated actors at the moment in the video for a song that sounds like it should be a hit, irrespective of whether or not it's "classic Manics" or not? my, they really are going balls out for mega sales and notice, aren't they?
no bad thing at all, might open the door to "younger fans" to discover their back catalogue. i fondly remember being mocked at college for liking Bowie, my crowd at the time assuming he was "just" Let's Dance & of course Magic Dance. i played them The Man Who Sold The World and all of a sudden he was the greatest thing ever.

I like the song more already. I think it'd be best if the Manics don't appear.

Manics videos with actors in them are usually shit but this sounds like it could be magic. Looking forward to it now. The Special Relationship should be out around the same time.

Brilliant. I love Michael Sheen, one of the finest actors in recent years. I wonder if he's a Manics fan?

I just hope it's not like a Let Robeson Sing video, cos it's boring. Or Austumnsong video (either!)

ffs. Michael starred quite recently Aro for Twilight, I'm not saying that we should expect hordes of Pattinson fanatics but who knows??
but playing a song for Twilight soundtrack would make them a bit more popular. you know, a kinda like 4REAL Mass Communication

I do know people who are going to buy the album just because they're Tim Roth fans so...

If it's about to re-create the 70's USSR feeling, then it may turn out to be something like the Last Shadow Puppets' video for 'The Age Of The Understatement' (which is good, I like both the song and the clip):

Sounds really good! And with James being a Nottingham Forest fan as well I expect he's well chuffed that they've got the actor who portrayed Brian Clough on board!
