Well to settle the arguement, which song would sound better playing in the background on the Christmas Day Eastenders?
INWJTEOL or SKON?

When it all kicks off in the Queen Vic the jukebox automatically goes silent, as do all the punters. Perhaps a rousing chorus of 'The disaster isn't coming, it's already arrived'...?

I guarantee the singles will be Some Kind of Nothingness and The Descent. There won't be a 4th.

I would be happy with that too. I just hope it's not the Postcards From A Young Man. That would be so bloody safe and predictable

Surely they're gonna go with the one that they're willing to play at every gig for the rest of their career.

Oh yeah, forgot about that song. Probably that instead of The Descent.

At least if they release the first three songs they'll be easy to skip when they start to get on my nerves.

I'm hoping Auto Intoxication will be single number 3.
Agree on both.

Does anyone release four singles off the same album anymore?

Agreed! SKON is ok, but it ain't all that! I think I suggested ABBFTS somewhere else and I've not changed my mind having listened to the album many times in the past week or so. There's better songs on the album that ABBFTS, but best songs don't always mean best single.

Anyone listened to the 30 second demo clips? It's probably the song that changed the most between the demo and the final thing. Apparently plenty of discussion about that song during the recording process. Clearly lots of changes. The basic melody has remained, but drums, guitar, clearly vocals (as it's nicky on the demo) and the strings/choir were added/increased. Clearly it became a manic composition rather than just Nicky's.

BUT

It probably will be the 2nd single... it sounds like a radio friendly song... Mouth (ie Wire) wrote it (aye ok... whatever! see above) and therefore it will get sent to the top of the class.

I wonder how much money is actually made from a single, even if it charts high? I guess it servers as album promotion too.

I always thought that was the general consensus but have no idea!

Not heard the album yet so don't know but having heard SKON on that radio show a bit back I think that's mega and would sound good around the build up to the Christmas spirit.

It'll depend how successful first single or two are and how successful the album is I guess.

More singles = more extra tracks = everyone is a winner!

I think they should release 2 more Singles.
Them being the Beautiful 'Some Kind Of Nothingness' and the Queenesque 'All We Make Is Entertainment'
Hopefully armed with plenty more B Sides too.
