You forget that this won't just be valuable to fans, but to collectors of rare records.
I suppose I can understand people who collect rare records. Still... that's 1 thousand pounds for a cd.

Personally I think its madness to buy that, but each to their own I suppose...
Angry at the buyer, not the seller.

Best I've done off that list is the Canadian Holy Bible for £20. Not £250.. I've got two different Hit Factory edits of Roses In The Hospital it mentions at the bottom, £55 for the two. Beats £125 for the From Despair To Where one
Still chuffed at my 6.50 for chb, shame it's gone down in price since the anniversary edition...

That is a really impressive listing. Shame I would never've been able to afford it.

Fair play to the new owner. If you can afford it, why not? I don't see why certain members are getting their arses in their hands over it.

If you got 1000 to blow, fair enough...people blow unnecessary sums on cars without thinking about it when you can do just as well with a much cheaper one.

Takk, cars are a reflection of the owner. Or who he or she wishes to be.

I'm the lucky / stupid sod who won it. One of my aims over the years has been to try & amass the best Manic's collection (outside of the band, their families & management of course). I've been buying bits & pieces since I first saw then on GATS tour back in '94, but now just concentrate on the earliest years.

Ive had acetates, vinyl stampers, test pressings over the years but in all that time had never seen one of these hand-made copies of which there may be as few as 20-30. It was more than I was hoping to pay, but to fund it all I have to do is sell 4 of my Dead Weather / Jacky White singles on ebay & I know which I'd rather have.

The set list is a nice bonus & I was wondering if the lyrics to Repeat were either Richey's or Nicky's (or even James'?). I'll have to try & compare the handwriting.

Once I've received everything I'll happily try & upload some scans onto this site if anyone's interested along with some nice bits of signed memorabilia that I've got.

I'm lucky that in these hard times I'm in a position to waste money on something as stupid as 'pop memorabilia', but there you go - it's probably cheaper than a drug habit!

well, not only that, but the point of it being "just a record" may be how other people view it (and I do too), but for all we know, this could be something that means a lot to someone for personal reasons. For all we know, they may have saved up for years and years to buy a copy, and it's priceless to them. And, more importantly, does it matter? Someone spent a grand on something. I spend over a grand every three months for our rent. *shrug*

Edit: my post looks a bit silly in light of the post above which was made while I was typing, but my point is still valid

It's a wonderful thing to have, and any Manics fan would be delighted to have it.

I shall say no more.

I've spent well over a grand just in the last 2 years seeing MSP live and so I always get slightly touchy when people make judgements about how much is OK to spend on them!

I'm not a collector at all, it's just not my thing, but this is an amazing item.

I've probably spent around that amount seeing them in all of my fandom. Which is a bit mental for me, because with the amount I get paid, I really can't afford that...

Definitely Nicky's handwriting, capital Ns all over the place.
