Nah, I never saw the connection. Lifeblood always felt to me more like 80's synth pop, like Tears For Fears or Depeche Mode.

I havent watched the video yet but I'm sure that he means Achtung Baby in terms of complete re-invention (and hopefully on to some greater commercial/critical success). Plus Achtung Baby is back in the public consciousness at the moment with the re-issue and disappointing documentary on the BBC.

Probably exactly what he meant mate. Just a knee-jerk reaction on my part that occurs every time anyone mentions U2 as a positive

watching the interview made me fall in love with nicky all over again, had a very sad look in his eyes, the decline of rock music part was just typical but the rest was brilliant.

i really can't see them getting a new singer in to replace James. Surely they know how people identify bands by their singers? You lose that 99.9% of the time it kills the band. If they want to do an album of duets with other singers or just do an album with Nina then that's fine and dandy but they have to share the singing with James.

STOP SCARING ME LIKE THIS, GUYS!

Though a duets album, like Ray Davies just did, WOULD be pretty cool.

It certainly goes a long way toward confirming there will be no 2nd JDB solo album, doesn't it? If he's that sick of his own voice...

I think they should get Sean to do lead vocals on a few tracks. His backing vocals are always superb.

Well they have killed the idea of any more singles, if they do go down the 70 songs road they will have a fair few instrumentals.

I can see duets, I doubt you'll get a Manics song without eithier Nicky or James putting some vocal on it.

I'll certaintly put money on another Nicky Wire album.

I'm gonna ask him about this at the book signing thing in November. I'd do anything for another Nicky solo effort

They've been going almost non-stop for the past four years. Maybe he just needs some rest? Really grasping here heh.
