I was about to cry sacrilege at people claiming that anything The Horrors has written could be better than Richey's lyrics, but I gave it a listen and whoah, it really is good -- musically at least. Why can't the Manics always sound like this?
I listen to some Horrors stuff and I can imagine why it got dumped; if the Manics rendition is anything to go by it really isn't The Horrors's style. |

It's brilliant. I've never even heard the original,I don't really want to.

I would sell my grandmother to hear the original.

Think I vaguely remember all the talk about this at the time. Just downloading Flash player for the umpteenth time and then I can listen to it. Won't bother with The Horrors orginal though!

You wouldn't be able to anyway. They won't release it because they're silly.

Oh well! Think this is an excellent cover as always but wouldn't put it above what is on Journal.

They wouldn't dare release it now that you've heard the Manics version and will obviously prefer it to the original

It is bloody brilliant, could easily have been done around the same time as Judge Yrself. I can't believe the band were this strong musically around this time, only for them to throw it all away and give us PFAYM! No progression whatsoever, but yeah this is one of the best covers the Manics have done...or anybody has done for that matter! Should've released this instead of This is the Day for National Treasures.
BTW there is a Horrors live version of this on youtube, but it's an audience recording. Doesn't sound too much different, but then The Horrors were probably influenced by the Manics anyway. |

This as a cover and a one-off is fine but don't think I would want an entire album that sounded like it! Postcards is just glorious, wouldn't change it for the world!
