I'd be happy if they just played the new album, along with some rarities. I've heard Tolerate/ME/MJ/ADFL so many times I've lost count so I could happily live without them

I actually agree with you here. This tour should focus on the album and the big venues next year can be used for the hits and the shits.

My girlfriend has never seen them live.

In the amount of time the we have been going out I think I have seen the Manics 9 times and 21 times (not including festival shows - smugness isn't very becoming, David) before that starting in '94. This year she finally acquiesced and agreed to go.

I asked her if there were any songs in particular that she'd like to hear to which she replied;

"Once they don't play A Design For Life or If You Tolerate... I don't care."

Spoken like someone who'd been going to Manics gigs for 15 years.

Can't remember where but I'm sure I read summat about em suggesting doing two part sets, I hope they do. Though I think they'd have probably mentioned something by now if there were going to be any different format. Can't remember, did they say they were playing JFPL in full before the tickets went on sale?

The official website said when the tour was announced"'See the Manics play the album Rewind the Film", which i took to mean they would be playing the whole album. Obviously without any electric guitar, the band would be in a semi-acoustic setup. I think it'll be album + hits like the Roundhouse, but more like the Homecoming 2002 gig where they had a string quartet backing them during the first part.

See they should have done the Wales Millennium Centre if they wanted to do acoustic gigs with string/instrumental section, I'm still hoping they do do something there. It'd be amazing! St David's Hall was

i was going to mention that the other day but i couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called or where it was. If they're going to play the whole album that'll be amazing

As has been said before PSB are more electronic and loud (Saw them at Truck Festival this last weekend) and I think it would be an interesting contrast to have them open up and then the Manics doing an acoustic set, not a bad choice, just different, almost sandwiched between two "thumps" of rock n roll.

I remain intregued until that first gig back as to what is in store. With JFPL they announced in the initial email that it would compromise of two sets, I'm not sure they would repeat that personally but if they go down the acoustic route, I would hope for the rarer tracks and reworked classics to pad out the set.

I doubt it. They will come on, play Ocean Spray, The Everlasting and Kevin Carter and leave again. Probably.

Seriously though, I don't mind too much what they do. It's been long enough since the last time I saw them that I'd be happy to hear the hits again, but it would be great if they dropped a few unusual things from THB or something in. We'll see. I'm not really *feeling* the new stuff hugely yet, but maybe after hearing it live it will grow on me more. It's happened before.
