I'm beginning to hate festivals.
I either have to mix with a load of middle class mothers and their babies strapped to their chests yapping constantly about Waitrose and chakra crystals because they're oh-so boho, or the rest of the people my age off to Reading/Leeds to have 'fun' i.e Quote:

Glasto is still decent, and MSP played that last year. Boomtown looks fun too.

At festivals you don't have to 'mix' with anyone, just enjoy the parts you like. Esp if you just go for a day and see the bands you want.

Of the musical (excluding comedians and the such) acts in the regular lineup 17 out of 53 feature a female member so 32% of the lineup announced so far, so yeah I think that's near to the kind of representation that Reading should be aiming for.
Weak attempt at humour tbh. |

I wasn't trying to be funny, I was stating the facts.
If believing in equality of representation in art and culture is ‘snobbery’ then fine I’m a snob. Or does knowing how to do percentages now count as snobbery? Fuck me. Last edited by Bathtub; 04-03-2015 at 10:51. |

Didn't they refuse Latitude in 2004-5 because it would be too middle-aged? Praps they should play a Lifeblood set

Please indulge me in a tangentially related whinge. I went to undergrad with Dan Snaith (i.e. "Caribou"). Same year, same residence at U of Toronto. I can remember drunkenly playing bongo drums in his dorm room one time. He used to spin at a small basement venue when he went by the name "DJ Manitoba" and all my friends and I would go to lend support. I even went to his first CD release party, but I confess I've never actually listened to any of his recordings.
Anyway, over the past few years, it has been somewhat painful to see his name up there on festival line-ups with some of my heroes.

I laughed - Lois had it right. I've never had her charm, though, even at age 19. Alas.
