No 'Start Me Up'?
Actually, that's not a bad thing...

That full band version of 'Bright Eyes' is pretty naff. They should've included the Astoria version!

Stupid question: why there is a downloadable album, and then a spotify playlist with double the number of tracks?

Jeans Not Happening can't be a lost / legacy recording, surely? someone here would be aware of it at least?
seems weird they're mentioning everywhere the fact that Borderline is a new studio recording for this collection, but not this one...

I think it's because they need the songs on Spotify etc to be able to make the playlist.

Did we ever find out who Finlay George is?

HAVING SAID THAT... Can anyone help out with the "Covers" album? Which if these songs are versions that are totally new to us (ie never officially released)?

all the "new" covers that are in Covers are also in the playlist. Then, the never released tracks are: 01. Borderline 02. Jeans Not Happening (feat. Finlay, George) 05. Let's Stay Together (Live at the BBC) 08. Bright Eyes (Full Band Version) 09. In Between Days (Live at the BBC) 10. Sweet Child O' Mine (Live at Cardiff Castle) 11. All or Nothing (Live at the BBC) 12. Bring on the Dancing Horses (Live at the BBC) 15. Summer Wind (Live at the BBC)

Thanks for that. So Vision Blurred, Endless Plain etc are all the same versions we already had? Kinda happy to get a proper download of Vision Blurred...mine seems to be pretty shitty lol

Love the slight bizarre decision to leave a little snippet of La Tristessa on the end of Sweet Child of Mine

It is what it is - a random, half-arsedly chucked out compilation of random bits for streaming services - but it's a nice selection of odds and ends to fill some gaps and get some high quality versions of older tracks that I can slot into my own compilations. Particularly excited about having a HQ version of "Endless Plain of Fortune". And it's nice to have yet another version of "In Between Days" in my library, quite possibly the most covered song in my collection.
The "Borderline" cover is still nowhere near as fun as it probably is for the band to play and the mysterious "Jean's Not Happening" is standard-OK Manics cover. EDIT: so I'm listening to the Endless Plain of Fortune cover again and I'm not sure if it's the Amazon download or the listening setup I've got atm, but does it sound super compressed? Or was it always like this and I just didn't detect it through the vinyl rip snap crackle pop?

See it as end of term goofing off before the next project and phase.
I can barely hear most of it but it's getting them back in the public eye. Generating traffic. It'll all add up in the end. |
