Which videos were £100k? Probably most of the TIMT ones: Tolerate, YSTS, The Everlasting.

That's a good question - have they ever played a proper Manics gig and not played YSTS since 1998? EDIT: Probably not: https://www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/m...ongid=43d7f36f |

How could YSTS cost £100k? Its just them in a studio with some rabbits and a tiny bit of basic level animation. I reckon Tolerate and SWSS must be the most expensive ones they ever did.

Whilst I kind of enjoy the song these days and realise it's one the casual fans latch onto, I wouldn't be adverse to seeing it have a rest.

At least thr live version doesn’t suffer from “bap bap” syndrome like the original

Forgot about SWSS. What a shitshow. And the Avalanches version is shit too.

Doing a bit of "ignoring the family on Christmas Manics' research" it seems that they subbed it out of the 1998 setlist for SYMM only on this date! Ha! |

It’s interesting he makes the comment about wasted money. How quickly things have changed. Steve Hillier of Dubstar has said the 90s was the last time in the music industry that huge amounts of money would be spent on things that seemed important but in reality were not, like Dubstar members being put in hotels and driven in limos… for a meeting.

And in the context of the Manics and 90s money in the music business, they can't have made any money from the first three albums. The absolute bare minimum. Which always made me think that while they have mythologized the strings and the melodies and the anthems of EMG as the reaction following Richey's disappearance, there is certainly the commercial element of it as well.
