The verses remind me of Underdogs, the chorus reminds me of something which could be on the Rocky 4 soundtrack. Strange combination, but it works!
Don't get THB comparisons at all. |

OK, got it. I wouldn't think about it, because the song sounds extremely unoriginal to me which is a big difference to THB

But from what I can see in translators the czech equivant is a significant insult. anyway it could also mean I meant to be mean in my words to Porco and this I didn'T want to - just to be clear. I think I lost myself not in language but in what I wanted to say struggling to find balance between what am I allowed to say and what am I not allowed to say and what do I think can be good to say here. To explain: I'm working in kind of music industry. conclusion: next time I'll be quiet

Is this song going to chart if it's been available for download this week?

Also aren't people getting it free if they pre-order the album with itunes? That should disqualify it

I like the song. And the video, which disguises a lack of budget well. It must have been relatively easy to shoot.
Re: the singles chart, David Bowie had a similar release strategy last year, announcing a single and posting its video on the day of its release. Taking people by surprise. There was a discussion over whether Bowie would chart on account of album pre-orders or something of the like. In the end, he did. Where are We Now? made number 6. The Manics don't figure in the midweek Top 40, however, but that was only compiled after one day of sales. If Walk is eligible, I reckon it may well make the Top 75. |

I've avoided saying anything for a few days, but it's so bad it's nearly (but not quite) enough to make me give up on the band entirely. And that's coming from someone who's always been fairly balanced and positive about the band's output, and not prone to statements like the above.
As stated by others, it's clumsy and clunky both musically and lyrically. They should really stop doing songs about Richey now, if this is the best they can do.

Indeed. That was a close thing. Top 75 is very respectable for "the old guard" in the current chart climate. Suede released a great album last year - a true return to form - but they ballsed up their singles campaigns. They put Barriers out there on the day of its announcement - as with the above strategy - but it was given away free. It might well have scraped the Top 40 otherwise (such was coverage of the announcement that week). And they bungled release dates for the first single proper a month later. Schoolboy errors at a time when you need to remain on top of that aspect more than ever.

It's nowhere in the iTunes top 300 so you needn't worry about listening to Radio 1 on Sunday evening.
It can, however, be seen residing in the iTunes alternative chart at 59 below songs as recent as Green Day's Good Riddance and Beck's Loser. |

Haha! They're so useless at making the charts, those Manics, aren't they?! Let's laugh at them perennially for thinking they're still relevant. I'm so glad we have you on hand to remind us just how shit they are.

I think WMTTB deserves to chart a lot higher than the singles from the last album. Maybe they've become an "albums band" after all then.

No, iTunes charges you for the individual track, then the remaining balance when the rest of the album comes out.

you don't need to sell a lot of singles to chart.. All the multi formatting helped the singles chart the last few years.. take those away and they just don't sell enough so album band it is
