I guess the tracklisting wasn't actually finalised or something. I am sure they wrote a song called "The View From Stowhill" also which Nicky said had to be on the album.

Evidently it was either renamed or he changed his mind as it's not on any of the pretty definitive preorder info. What they posted was correct according to the official sources, just too early.

Bit of a crap thing to sack them for unless it was just a trial arrangement.

Maybe the BBC have got uppity with them? It seemed clear that they were supposed to be breaking the news.

The info regarding the inspiration behind the songs has yet to be repeated but everything else came out the following morning. It doesn't seem that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.

RTF was also available on the usual video sites before 6 Music got to give it its radio premiere, not to mention available to buy on Amazon.

Who's getting sacked when the album itself leaks a month before release?

Anyway...

"‘Rewind The Film’ features 12 tracks of classic musicianship and lyrical themes which include the rock ‘n’ roll dream, Thatcherism and inspiration from subjects as varied as Manorbier Castle, Skids/Big Country’s late singer/guitarist Stuart Adamson, ‘Werner Herzog’s ‘Burden of Dreams’ and Welsh poet RS Thomas."
That's the list of inspirations they decided to divulge BEFORE Axelrodgate. Just saying for future reference...

I'm glad they've not bothered making any of the gigs on a Saturday - I hate it when bands have gigs on days which are convenient for folk that work, which is probably most of their fanbase these days.

[/sarcasm]

Oh well, 3 hour car journey back to Aberdeen on a Sunday night it is then. Assuming I even manage to get tickets for Barrowlands...

It's usually down to the availability of the venues and travel as opposed to when the band want to book the gigs. I don't know when this tour was scheduled, but it could well be that they were the only dates they could get.

What, so they have apparently sacked their promotion team for telling us song titles? That's mental. Ah well maybe they'll get a good team to promote them and get them on bloody TV shows more so more people can hear them.

It was not for telling us, it was for releasing all the info before the band told them to do it. They were working for the band, they should have waited for them to tell when to make it public. And probably the band wanted to post all the info on their official website before the marketing people did it on theirs.

Serves you right for living in Aberdeen It's not like they haven't played in Aberdeen the last couple of tours anyway. I'd love all gigs to be on weekends, but you can't expect bands and crew to sit in a Travelodge through the week on tour (Alan Partridge-style) and only play at weekends thus making a tour last 4 times longer, at 4 times the cost. If you really want to make a big night of it or have to travel far, take the next day off.

Not to mention plenty of people work on weekends anyway, especially those in retail.

Yeah, I hate seeing bands on Sunday nights. Sundays are for Top Gear, a takeaway and wearing comfy clothes, not shivering your arse off getting to and from a gig.
