I got quite a few photos, I've put them all up on my Facebook page. As much as I love my iPhone, I have to say that the zoom function on the camera is utter shit. From where I was standing (on the barrier, far right) I could see every pore on Nicky and James' faces but from the photos I've taken you'd think I was fucking miles away. Taken a proper bloody camera next time!

I don't agree with the complaints. "Stay Beautiful" and "You Love Us" were fucking amazing, crowd response was phenomenal. THB songs sounded great, especially acoustic "This Is Yesterday". James also delivered a heartbreaking version of "This Sullen Welsh Heart". And, as I said, the new songs came across really well. Great energy in the place too, but then there always is at the Civic and the Manics seem to feed off it, never seen them do a bad set there.

Khizar was saying that it was awful up in the seated area, people talking through songs and stuff. This is why I always prefer to be down by the barrier. Sure, it can get violent if people get carried away but, for the most part, it just enables you to get caught up in the atmosphere. Plus you can't help but jump around when you're stood right next to a giant fucking speaker stack!

Mixed feelings about phone Nazi's on the balcony, on one hand, fuck off. On the other, why are you constantly on Facebook during a gig. And when will people learn that flash on a phone camera does nothing from that distance.

My oh my, what a day, almost too much fun for a young Fran. Great to meet Richey finally, see Dex again and enjoy the best gig of tour great crowd venue and band. Only lowlights were Wire talking too much about summat or other and touching himself all the bloody time

Great gig. Worth the trip up from Londres. Truly a good time socialising with familiar and new faces. Look forward to seeing more of them on this tour and beyond.

Sound was great and highlight was DITS and AOP.

Dex.

I didn't understand this. If she recorded the song in 2 takes surely she could just jump on stage and sing it without a soundcheck?

Glad I'm not the only one who was a bit miffed about that. I'm by no means a pro sound engineer but surely they'd just need to get the volume right and do a couple of tweaks here and there as they went along? Bit mean to tease us with what might have been.

James in a car travelling separate either to avoid germs (some sort of quarantine? A bit late would have though) or he has to be somewhere/or at home today.

Angus tweeted they were in Bournemouth at 3.30am so it seems they went straight down there on the bus?

Talking

Well, that was cracking. Was fantastically squishy, pushy and jumpy down the front. Doors of doom did not beat us. Wire is happy again. He really hates dry shampoo, doesn't he? Even Sean cracked a few smiles at his anecdote.

Just wonderful. Thank you Shug for all your efforts, and of course to the people who sent updates and photos. You did a great job.

Amazing gig, absolutely loved it. A few complaints with the setlist but I'm not going to bother moaning on here Lovely to see some people for the first time, the regulars and a few blasts from the past! Band were on top form, the crowd unfortunately were not. Lots of people being disrespectful in the seating area and talking through the new songs constantly (and acoustic songs, of course). They really upset me and it nearly spoiled the whole gig for me. Give the band the respect they deserve!!!

I mean, you wouldn't go to watch a film and talk right the way through if you didn't like it, right? So why do the same here, when you've paid £30+ to watch one of the best live bands in the country. Fucking idiots!

One other thing I've just remembered. The sound was pretty bad and very distorted (at least from where I was sitting). Leicester sounded a lot better and Cardiff sounded very good as well. Shame about the sound at Wolves, though

If you're in a pub gig or something, maybe. Rather not do it at all, than do it without soundchecking and then leave the the crowd thinking you suck. I'm certain she would have performed it fine, but it may very well not have been her that suggested not doing it anyway...

Oh, and massive shame that Lucy Rose didn't get to perform with the band. Would have made sense with her being from the West Midlands and all that My favourite song from the last album too.
