Saying "I've listened to it once & it's shit" ain't going to win any respect for your opinion. Whether it's the Manics or George ass fucking Formby.

Yeah, I'm in a mood.
Well I'm not going to shout at you because I like you but I think it tends to be clear, for the most part, when you're going to like an album or not, my favourite albums are the ones that I knew were special first time I heard them, even if that didn't hadn't yet translated into really liking them.

Yeah, I think PFAYM needs 5 listens to form a solid opinion but there's nothing stopping people posting what they think based on their experience so far. I can't wait to hear what people think in a year's time.

And idealistic as it is, all opinions deserve some respect, I certainly respect the opinions of pretty much all of FD.

Hope you become cheerier mate.

YAY the deluxe album arrived today. It was delivered way quicker than the singles. I hate the gold cover for it though - they should've kept it grey like the normal album.

Must admit after hearing the 30sec snippets on Amazon prior to the release l feared the worst. After first and second listen to the album it still didn't connect with me. Now after listens 3, 4, 5..... it's connected, l think it's a super piece of work, watching the live sessions from Later with Jools Holland brings it home even more.

Postcards, Auto-intoxication, Balconies, Don't Be Evil, new classics.

Aberdeen can't come quick enough.

I've not been reading the whole thread...but Franny knows what's up.

Just because they throw the kitchen sink doesn't mean it's a dense record that reveals itself over 24 listens. They are strings. And choirs. If they're not hitting you the first couple times you hear the song then you're looking for too much from this particular collection of songs. Personally, I find the production on this record to be really horrible.

That all opinions deserve respect is an interesting concept to air on FD, or maybe a little ironic.

I'm sorry for letting fly, it was in the heat of the moment, & early in the morning.

You came to that opinion after more than one listen right?

My album's finally turned up and I've given it a listen. I actually think it's got a great feel to it, having been unenthusiastic after the first couple of songs I'd heard from it. They've clearly put a lot of work into the production and, even though some things like gospel singers aren't to everyone's tastes, the songs all seem to fit nicely together - so I think I'm more likely to come to think of it as a great album like EMG and Lifeblood, than be disappointed like with KYE and SATT, but it's probably too early for me to judge it completely yet.

One observance though, I don't know if anyone's already pointed out, hasn't Nicky's voice improved!
