Second set looked alright to me. I think they could have dropped two of AFDL, YLAINE, YLU, ME and IYTTYCWBN, maybe done an album track or two or a lesser played single off EMG or TIMTTMY? I like YLAINE, but I don't think it deserves the status of set staple, I suspect they always play it because it's easy to play as much as anything.

Would be good if they alternated the song they play from Lifeblood and the Futurology songs across the gigs.

Phew... found The Holy Bible a bit overwhelming to be honest. 4st7 especially looked like it was painful to play (and not just for the quantity of lyrics). Intense Humming of Evil... the guitars! Still not totally sure how they managed to do all those sounds as a 3 piece. You know you're in the midst of something pretty dark when Revol and Faster sound like light relief. Glad I'm fortunate to be going to more than one gig so I can take it all in a bit more.

I thought the second set struck the perfect balance of a contrasting lighter mood, but with a few choice rarities. Dreaming a City, once I got over Nicky's dad dancing, sounded awesome.

i wouldnt be suprised if the band changed the 2nd half of the set further down the line, first night nerves might have made the band think fuck it lets enjoy ourselves

Surprised the likes of 1985 and Dreaming a City are getting so much love on here considering how flat the crowd were during it compared to THB set. I didnt think i'd be alone thinking they were a bit shit!

He did, it was interesting. Obviously he changed the way he delivers it slightly. Hard to describe on here. You know when he sings the "I eat and I drink and I wash..." section of Yes, he slightly changes how he sings it so he has a chance to inhale? Kind of like that. Musically spot on.

This is what I'd expect if I'm lucky enough to get tickets for Cardiff on Friday. Back in march when they did Cardiff Motorpoint Arena, I heard some meathead yell out for "You Stole The Sun From My Heart" - I mean, if you're gonna yell out for songs, try something that isn't pretty much a given to be in the set anyway. Prick.

The 2nd half seems like a truncated "regular" gig with a couple of lesser-played gems sprinkled in - Who knows if that'll change over the course of the tour, but I'm fine with it. More than some here, clearly. But such are the consequences of a band with longevity and one that evolves and changes over the years.

Sorry if this has been covered earlier in the thread, but did they play the THB set as a three-piece?

1985 was pretty nice to hear but to be honest, it felt a bit flat coming off the back of THB songs. The 2nd set is merely just a "Hey, we can do upbeat stuff too" thing.

Yeah as a three. The 2nd part was with Wayne and Nick N.

I can see why they played as a 3 piece and glad they did, but I prefer to hear them with an extra guitar.
