It's a nice piece, I remember watching Children of Men and wondering when You Love Us was going to kick in. Think I will give that a watch tonight!

Lorna on YouTube has posted a piano cover of Door to the River which is just as lovely as one would expect (i.e. very). https://youtu.be/Cvnzhn-FezQ

As much as I love the OTT production on Door to the River, I REALLY enjoy this stripped down approach.

Yeah pretty much, Are they manics words then? I always thought they had come from somewhere else

As far as I know they are original lyrics. A few bits of You Love Us are borrowed though (nods to Public Enemy 'fake lifesaver/real flavour' and Burroughs 'throw some acid...') so it's certainly not impossible.

Could someone kindly remind me what the full sample is in Ready For Drowning and where it's from? It's quietly fallen out of my brain over the years.

Just walked into a bar with The Secret He Had Missed playing.
Then Quest For Ancient Colour plays. Me: okay they're playing the album nice. Nicky Wire demo version of Don't Let The Night Divide Us plays. I'm in a pub playing CD2. I am entirely okay with this. |

Haha very good stuff Always nice to hear Manics songs played in public, especially when it's something that's not one of the big hit singles.
