Fuck no! What utter bollocks, my friend. If the Manics are still around when I'm 40 (and even if they're not) I'll still be going to live gigs and rocking out with the best of them. I just won't be acting like a tit in the process

Is the intro the spoken word section from the "1985" movie?

Nineteen Eighty-Four is the movie, actually. Nicky forgot the 'I don't want virtue to exist anywhere' line though hehe

I always found that line funny at the start of Faster, cause Winston is basically only saying it to get laid.

JFPL was spoiled for me as i was next to two montionless men. I wouldnt mind, but they were heckling the support, calling them wannabes and saying theyd never heard a manics record in their life, yet they didn't know any words from the new album.
2nd half was amazing though, i managed to get into the thick of it. The greatest night of my life methinks. Felt sorry for Nicky when he messed up the words to WLW, he seemed really disappointed in himself.

Good point. I hadn't thought of it like that before and now I'm never going to be able to hear that quote in quite the same way again. Damn you Tom! *shakes fist*

a little taster of the five tracks I snagged, You Love Us, just under a couple of hours ago. Will upload the other four and bang them in S&V soonish. (The other tracks I got were Marlon JD, All Is Vanity, You Love Us, No Surface All Feeling, Faster - Faster misses the last 10 secs because security got arsey with me). |

Just got back - it was awesome! Here's some bullet points
*Peeled Apples got a bit of a low key reception, and I was a bit worried that people weren't going to appreciate the album, and that the whole set would fall flat on its face. I was glad to be proved wrong, as Jackie Collins had the crowd rocking like any of the best of the bands hits. That particular song is MUCH better live, which is good cause I think it'll be a permanent fixture in future tours. *TJSS was a highlight, and one of the best performed songs tonight. Really intense. I glanced around and noticed a lot of people mouthing along to the words, which made me quite happy. *James dropped tons of lines from She Bathed, but it still sounded great. *Nicky still unwell/injured? He didn't say a thing until WLW, and was extremely quiet during the second half. He even disappeared behind the flag for YSTS. On the plus side, James seemed to be working really hard to compensate for it, and did a fantastic job. *Busty red-headed girl up on somebody's shoulders, nearly spilling out of her top. I'm not really sure what to add to that, but I feel I had to mention it. *Quite possibly the best version of Motorcycle I've experienced. It's usually a bit of a numbers song, but James was well in to it, and so were the crowd. I haven't heard it performed with that passion for a while. *My "Who's Responsible?" shirt gets yet more attention as I had some girl approach me before the gig to ask me where I got it from. Why wear a different shirt to a Manics gig? If you saw a guy wearing that shirt, it was probably me (only saw one other guy wearing it, and he was ageing a bit). As an aside, none of the promotional shirts really took my fancy..

Sorry I didn't mean for it to sound like I have something unique. >_< For that shirt... well I wish I could claim to have gotten it during TBH tour, but no I got it from the greatest hits tour a few years ago, and there were literally stacks of them piled up behind the desk, unsold, yet they were selling out of the regular tour shirts. I know it's not a rare shirt or anything, you'll always see at a couple of people per gig wearing it, but I've had more than this enquiry about the shirt and it's a good conversation point with fellow Manics fans. Just saying that this shirt always gets someone talking to me whenever I take it to a gig, that was my point really.

The gig was ace, James was certainly enjoying himself and appreciates how good the crowd always are at Wolves. The latest gig I have ever been to at the Civic though!! we missed the last bus so it cost a fortune in taxi's!!

Bloody hell, has anyone else still got ringing in their ears? I've never had it this bad before.
I had a great time, and saw quite a lot of people off here, although I was too much of a social reject to talk to most of you. Thanks to Nic and her daughter for letting me queue with them, and for being lovely, and to the also lovely couple who bought me water and kept me company. I want to go again now |
