No way kids should have been at MBV, but also I think there needed to be an effort to explain just how loud they are, there were no warning signs and I doubt everyone knew who they were.

They were, of course, amazing to the max, I love them so much.

Neither have I. The actual songs can sound unique enough live, but the ending racket is something else.

I'd quite like to go to Portmeirion again with a bit more planning and nicer weather. Probably half a dozen pages ranting about it which I can't be arsed to go through, really unimpressed with the organisation of the festival. Probably won't do the festival again. Performance was fantastic though. Was grumpy and wanting a pint when I got there, give me a few days and it'll start to feel worth it.

I had two Japanese friends with me and they loved Portmeirion and they adored the festival. Certainly very cute compared to most festivals.

Arrived at the park and ride at 11.30 was told that festival site was closed until further notice due to the weather. Hoping to reopen it at 14.00. Someone asked was there a risk of cancellation the reply was yes. Apparently the main stage had sunk in the mud big time and it was not safe. It had to be re-pegged. Other things had blown over. Some of the smaller stages around village were cancelled due to health and safety risks. Think festival site opened around 15.00.

We went in the cinema to shelter from the elements as very little shelter around the village. Saw the impressive Manics documentary. The weather had improved by end of that. The Manics were awesome loved Nicky seemed very up for it and very vocal. Enjoyed the mix of songs like I did at the Newport gig. The usual festival goers in the audience and plenty of Manics fans as well. Spoke to Franny, James and Laura.

Returned park and ride bus took a while to arrive but not too bad. Thankfully my car did not get stuck in the mud. Enjoyable day of course it would have been much more enjoyable minus the wind, mud and heavy rain.

At least he took it off part way through FN6, he kept it on for the entire of the Newport gig. I was a tad disappointed by the lack of arm porn [/priorities]

I was a bit worried how the Manics would go down with the crowd after the spectacle of Chic (the two female singers could teach Nicky a thing or two about glamour), but it was all fine. Although what was with all the tiny children being shoved on the barrier by their parents? I had various kids next to me throughout Johnny Marr and the Manics; the one during the Manics was lifted over the front and allowed to sit on the step of the barrier, causing a bit of disturbance during the band's set, as the security guards were blocking my view whilst they spoke to them and lifted the boy over. Seriously, who brings small children to the front of a rock gig? Luckily the crowd were quite tame, but whether that was due to people being on their best behaviour because children were around, I don't know. I just don't think it's the place for small children.
I'm trying to figure out who you were in the crowd now because that was happening right in front of me too. I was the teenager waving the pink feather boa around. I couldn't believe they'd brought a kid that young to the barrier! And then in You Love Us when things got a bit rowdy round where I was they were telling the blokes behind me to fuck off... It's like, this is a punk song you know. This is sort of what you do.

Anyway, I thought they were BRILLIANT. James was grooving like a pro, and Nicky's Gove rant really cracked me up - the "this is the new cultured, serene Nicky Wire" thing. Yeah right bubz. It's Not War remains inescapable however.

Has anyone said anything about Nicky's "fuck I wish Richey was still here" bit? I found it genuinely heart breaking. Bit awkward with the crowd deciding whether it should be cheering or not... it's hard to express empathy concisely in crowd form XD I thought it was going to lead in Holy As The Soil so I was pleasantly surprised when we got a stomping Revol instead!

It was great to bump into a couple of forum people in the Culture Alienation Boredom and Despair screening, especially considering I've only been on here about a week (been lurking for many moon though.)

Agree with the stuff about FN6 being a bit of a balls up organisation wise. Have those people never heard of signs???
