I can only assume the merging of the Futurology thread with the Rewind The Film on the radio thread is a mistake? The two have nothing to do with each other

So that's what happened! I'm very protective of my threads.

Tokyo Skyline reminds me of Bjork a bit (apart from vocals obviously), which isn't something I thought I'd ever say about a Manics song

Maybe not, but a song sung exclusively by an artist should be on that artist's album, not on a Manics album (in my opinion). Plus musically, it's fucking horrible. I can't get over how cringeworthy the piano sounds.

Yes, not a fan of that one either.

This Sullen Welsh Heart - 8.5
Show Me The Wonder - 7
Rewind The Film - 9
Builder Of Routines - 8
4 Lonely Roads - 6.5
Tokyo Skyline - 8
Anthem For A Lost Cause - 10 - This will be BELTER live!!!
As Holy As The Soil - 8.5
3 Ways To See Despair - 9.5
Running Out Of Fantasy - 10
Manorbier - 6
30 Year War - 10

To me this album sounds like all their best b-sides put together into a cracking album....ad not in a bad way. IMO they have always been a lot more experimental and open on their b-side tracks and it's a side of them we've never really seen on an album until now. Love it!

You could say that every album has been different 4 Lonely Roads is completely out of leftfield. An 11 track album wouldn't have hurt!

I don't see that as a bad thing on an album that is generally out of leftfield. I think it fits in with the rest quite nicely.

I've only heard the tracks once so I dunno yet. Some I loved straight away others i'll need to listen again. If you hate someone's voice then it doesn't matter how good the song is you're just not going to like it. I get that entirely

As for songs sung by by other artists being on their own albums, hmm depends. Sometimes songs sound better sung by someone else. Is it James that sings the demo? I'll be interested to hear the difference

Don't agree with, or even really understand this opinion at all. But horses for courses and all that. I think it's a great song.

It's just too unusual for me I just put it down to a lack of quality control due to writing/recording possibly 30 odd songs in 2 years.

Nicky sings the demo (and apparently plays everything on it including the drums). You can hear the sample on Amazon, it's no better than the finished version.
