So the album went in at number 3? That's actually really good.

replace "awful" with "unappreciated" and I'd agree with you

Well done INW! And they've done better than the majority of bands of their generation. Not that there's many of 'em left now. The Charlatans didn't chart I believe?

aww i like the charlatans tho not heard the new one. Another reason to care about chart placings..its obviously important to them so a good result is going to encourage them to keep going and that's the main thing cos without em i'd be bored

How many top 40 singles and albums is that now altogether? Still the biggest selling Welsh band.

I like It's Not War apart from Nicky's brief vocal. Only one I'm not taking to on the album thus far is The Descent.

Surely the Phonics have sold more?

I presume they're no.1 in Wales (and probably are most weeks, accept maybe in the North).

They haven't surpassed the number top 40 singles the Manics have had. They'll have to wait until they retire which will be a while yet! Dunno about actual amounts of sales though.

There should be seperate charts for the home nations. Would be interesting to see the differences between England, Wales, Scotland, Northern and Southern Ireland.

Thats only because the Manics released their back catalogue so the same singles charted twice, plus they have been going about 8 years longer

Nah, the manics have had a lot more top 40 singles than the phonics surely, not counting the re-releases, which didn't chart as top 40 anyway, did they?

Obviously MSP have an advantage timewise but the singles have all done consistently well. I'm talking about how many they've had just on initial release. No idea about reissues of singles and how well they have done. The Manics are always said to be the biggest band in Wales from all the bits I've ever read. Don't know if that has changed.

A small step towards the break up of the UK if you ask me. In the long-term it would turn the Manics and the Stereophonics into the competing Mafia-like communities of an independent Wales and years of bloodshed in the valleys because of people trying to marry Katherine Jenkins would result.
