how much he jumps and dances on stage, if he moans during or after the gig, if he wears fenders/protectors(???) on his knees..

The fact it has more scars on than an average Premier League footballer, it just looks like it's been operated on a fair bit not criticising him, his legs bar that are pretty fine, its just because we had close ups on Tv Screens that I noticed it several times as he perched his leg on the amp.

phew! just landed in bed in good ole' Bristol.

A bit tentative about flying solo this time around, but it was fine. Got spectacularly lost getting from the coach station to the venue, but made it there before opening. My first instinct was to pick up the Motown Junk single and then I had it in my hands thinking 'now what the fuck do I do with this?'. I had images of me in the moshpit holding the single above head height, but I just went for the carrier bag-tied-to-belt look. And astonishingly, despite being near the semi-naked group of shoulder-sitting/crowd surfing/throwing each other into each other blokes, the single remains remarkably intact.

Setlist was amazing, of course, and it was good to catch James without a cold and hear him roar. Really fires the crowd up when he does that. Both LBAL and Slash n Burn were two new live experiences for me in my 11th Manics gig spanning, um, like 15 years. It is odd that I haven't been to the CIA since 96 when I saw them supported by SFA and Catatonia. The bar prices haven't improved. £6.70 for double vodkas and coke. Scandalous.

I'm not sure you could get a more mixed audience than the Manics, especially for a bigger gig like this, which certainly makes it interesting. Happily the lovely people outnumbered the less-so, and I took on the role of human shield when a mother was getting concerned about her son getting knocked about a bit. I love moshpits, but I also know that people need to look out for other people and not ruin someone else's night.

Cardiff was certainly...interesting...post cup final, but chatted to some lovely people at the bus station.

Oh here's me, just in, caressing my copy of MJ

when I asked how his knees were in Hamburg, he said 'Rubbish'. it saddened me quite much, although he was jumping a lot so I thought it can't be that bad! (and he wasn't wearing skirt in Germany).

now he'll be having over a month long break before the next festival so maybe he'll cure himself a bit. I understand his pain, my knees are terrible too, actually most of joints in my body.

My knees aren't great for mostly the same reason, jumping around on stage. He still jumps about a lot mind. He's had one or two major problems with them hasn't he that's probably the main scarring. Mind you if I have legs as good as that when I'm 40 I'll be happy

Good luck to the guys I left on the coach, Franny, Alex and Kevin, it was a pleasure. And again a massive thanks to Helen for the drive down there lovely meeting everyone else too.

Amazing gig Manics certainly rocked Cardiff. Got invited back to the after show party as well. Gutless Wonder I wish you were at the Cardiff gig with me I need sleep. Got in @ 2am and then had to be up at 6am to give a Japanese Manics fan a lift to Cardiff Station.
