Honestly I did nearly post a sarky comment about recommending you try listening to it again because the piano actually sounds like that nice Keane song … lol

But what I mean is it sound like just a bit of chorus and reverb on the piano, not really that odd or bad… to me, anyway.

If I wanted to listen to the song again, I would have just put that Keane song on instead!! (if I had it, which I thankfully don't)

I would still maintain there's nowt wrong with that first Keane album anyway. But if you hated chorusy piano with lots of various reverb I can imagine it would be one of the worst things ever I suppose!

Nicky sings the demo (and apparently plays everything on it including the drums). You can hear the sample on Amazon, it's no better than the finished version.
In that case she definitely does a better job

I'm going to be honest, I liked Everybody's Changing for about 5 minutes. I quickly realised the error of my ways Just doesn't sit right with my overall musical taste, like Coldplay.

Stray thoughts on the album:
This Sullen Welsh Heart - The quietest start to a Manics album, but no less a statement of intent. The voices work together so well, it really is a thing of beauty.
Show Me The Wonder - Well, I like it. I think it works well here, a nice bit of joy before what is coming next.
Builder of Routines - The 'God Only Knows' horn section may be one of my favourite moments in a Manics song, gorgeous.
4 Lonely Roads - No. Just no. Please leave the album quietly.
Tokyo Skyline - Not too sure about the song underneath it, but the sound of it is fantastic. Sean deserves a lot of credit for his work on the album.
Anthem For A Local Cause - On another album this would have sounded massive, but I love how quietly anthemic this is. Been stuck in my head all day.
3 Ways To See Despair - My favourite track on the album, which I feel slightly guilty about because it's the one with electric guitar on it. It is great guitar work though.
30 Year War - Not really loving this one at the moment, perhaps because it was the most hyped track on here before release. I'm sure it will click after a few listens.

Musically maybe but the lyrics seem to tie it together for me.

They all seem to be surrounding the same sort of themes, looking back, regret, longing, fucking Wales etc....
