You Stole The Sun From My Heart 25 years old today. That's me in the corner crying I haven't done anything with my life btw.

I think after Design for Life and Motorcycle, YSTS is James' favourite Manics song.

Iv never really cared for YSTS, although the demo version is oddly charming.

I hate the guitar sound on the recorded version, the live version has evolved to my liking over the decades.

If you take the release of New Art Riot as the start of the Manics career as a recording artist (22nd June 1990) then a couple of weeks ago Send Away the Tigers moved from being released in the second half of the band's career to the first half!

After becoming a fan in 2002 it's hard to fathom that not only have been a fan for the majority of MSP's lifespan (including majority of album launches), I'm still enamored with the band as much as I was a teenager if not more so.

Their old songs become even more interesting because now you understand them better and can see new interpretations, their new songs are interesting because you're curious about their next move and because they keep writing good stuff. I was 11 when I fell in love with their work back in the early 2000s ♡ (I knew them since the times Tolerate was a top hit playing everywhere, but I was too young to care, though I knew they were the Manics and it did kinda make a foundation upon which I'd soon be building my admiration for everything I'd be discovering as I'd be entering puberty, starting with an obsession for Generation Terrorists)

I became a fan between EMG and TIMTTMY and I remember telling my best friend that Manic Street Preachers will always be my favourite band. She laughed at me. And here we are in 2024.

Yes, remember Motorcycle Emptiness being everywhere in 92. Took until Richey's unfortunate and the death of a friend to get me into them. (PCP. That was the lit fuse)
I'm happy I've grown along with them. I'd still put them above the others. Didn't see them live as much as I should have. But what a band! Ready for the next chapter. If not chapters. They will stop when one of them drops. And I hope that's far off. I even hope they outlive* me! Take care crossing the road, folks! *=Yes all music gets repeated on the radio but I meant as an ongoing thing. |
