Agree, that's the third single canned.

I also reckon a 2011 Greatest Hits is somewhat inevitable to try and claw back some interest before another studio album.

They should release the singles for fans who want the b-sides anyway. Not their fault people would rather listen to complete dreck instead!

Don't know who said it was #37 but it wasn't, it was some shit. Somewhere outside the top 40 is all I know right now.

Not charting and being outsold by singles that have already been the charts 11 weeks is pretty bad, especially for a band of their stature. Oh well least the album sold more , as everlasting said cant see them releasing a third, if they do it'll have to be Postcards or Platitudes but really cant see it.

Maybe someone will start a facebook campaign for it to be the anti-X Factor song next week

I really don't think a GH would be relevant and useful at the moment. They just need to take a little break and come back with something they haven't thought too much about, something they really enjoy without caring about commercial success. They definitely need to stop trying to hard IMO.

'Top 40' is a pretty arbritrary goal anyway. Why the fuck is the number 40 important? Why don't the band just start saying "we've had over 34 consecutive singles in the top 50"? Just shift the goalposts. Still impressive.

I can understand why people care about the album charts, but unless your favourite artist is David Guetta I don't see a point in caring about the single charts.

Where did it actually get to then? I still think it's brilliant considering The Charlatans latest effort did nothing in the singles chart.

The Charly's haven't had a charting single since 2006. They only seem to make singles as downloads which is pointless if you have the album already.

Well there you go. The Charly's are quite a well respected indie band so the fact the Manics have still managed to keep their popularity going despite dips in public interest every so often is a good thing I feel. The heady days of Truth may never return again but hey, they ain't done with yet!
