Rewind The Film - New Album Working Title

I want them to be there like the Rolling Stones, forever.

It really could go either way with them releasing more material after the album next year.

In their favour, they enjoy playing live and writing/recording new material. We already know this.

However, for me there are more things that go against the theory that they might carry on. Firstly, they are in their mid-40s now and most likely by the time they have material to release they'll be approaching 50. With Nicky's back problems etc, I can't see them touring as much either. Secondly, James has moved back to Wales to bring up his family and settle down. The one advantage of them all being in close proximity of each other and having their own studio means there is no pressure on them to get stuff out. The fact that they're all family orientated individuals is a big thing. Finally, we all know that they've been close to splitting a few times already. If the next two albums flop then they might just call it a day.

Bottom line is this: Let's enjoy them while they're still around and stop moaning.

As much as I've been known to complain about SATT & PFAYM, my world will be a much sadder place when The Manics do call it a day.

And lets face it, who really wants them to go on forever? Do we really want to see them on a stage playing Mowtown Junk and Slash & Burn when they are the Rolling Stone's age?

I know you are right on the first part of it, that's part of my fear. And I know you are right about the "enjoy them while around" part too, but I am the kind of person who can't enjoy the last days of holidays because they mean the end. That's foolish but can't control this. Anyway let's stop talking about this all because we are missing the point, right? Let's focus on the new albums, and better stop thinking about their life, family, health and all the secondary stuff

I don't think I can see the band continuing past the time they turn 50, and if that was to be the case, hopefully we can get another couple of albums spread out after these next two appear.

Re-signing again with Sony again at this stage of their career, I can't imagine the deal was for anything more than 3 albums..

With James' work ethic though, I'd look forward to the strong possibility that he'd continue putting out music in some way after the band finished.

However, the world won't be a sadder place; my collection of music is already full of MSP albums, they won't disappear if they call it a day. I will miss new releases, but they can have my back catalogue when they prise it from my cold, dead ipod.
