These setlists are good and if I was at the gigs I would no doubt have a great night. However I'm not feeling to bothered that I didn't get tickets because so far there is nothing I haven't already heard.

Best gig i've seen them do since...ages. Couldn't say when, but great setlist and amazing to see Solitude Sometimes Is. Band were on fire, Nicky was at his ranting best and was good to see him like that again...

But that is it now, they need to go away and record this new album they've been talking of. None of this rubbish about another greatest hits, they clearly don't need it after last nights brilliant reception. They are in a good place so they should embrace it, go away for a bit and come back with something exceptional. They did it with Journal for Plague Lovers so they can do it again. The last thing anybody wants is them touring all year then rush-releasing another below-standard album like PFAYM. Take your time boys.

Had hoped would get a minute with him after that but then a bloke pulled out five album covers he wanted signing and that was that really. Shame. Was all mature about it on the drive back home then cried my eyes out when I got to bed! I'll forgive him, I'm sure! It can't be easy trying to deal with a crazy mob of people but I don't think I'll be bothering next time. Leave it to the proper diehards!

All in all a great night. Just a shame that people have to hog the band members after. If you've had your pic, got your autograph and had a quick chat then make space for others to have a chance as well.
awww don't give up.. try again next time. Am sure he didn't mean to push you out of the way. Sometimes you get lucky and everyone gets their turn or its a free for all with the pushy lot winning everytime.

I had such a wonderful time last night, everything was great! No changes to the setlist but can't complain seeing how much the band were enjoying it. I loved James saying it was the best rock and roll venue in the world! And me and my friend got Nicky's setlist and met them afterwards

To be honest, it's not his fault - he's a lovely guy...it's the people who are too greedy - need 5 things signed, need 3 photos, when it's clear there are a lot of people. I just decided to keep my distance and let some other people have a chance.

what exactly is the point of this little jaunt then?
its not like the 2007 'uni' tour followed by arenas.
this campaign seems to have been - mammoth tour of medium venues followed by a handful of shows in no real order or with any real aim, then onto festivals. and they've barely played the latest record on either outings.
am i missing something?
they're meant to be warm up gigs for the festivals but methinks thats just an excuse. They're touring AGAIN in december arent they for this greatest hits thing?

i take it cameras were allowed in the end then? Some venues let you take them in provided they're not professional SLR types and others seem to be still in the dark ages and get stroppy. I'm sick of having to smuggle mine in all the time just in case.

Sorry you didn't get enough James time Gutless. That's why I never tried to meet them afterwards myself.

Happily though that's the best I've ever seen them. Like most of us here I've been to every tour since 2004 and they've never been that up for it. James playing around, Nicky at his best, a very strong setlist and the crowd were amazing.

Strangely Of Walking Abortion didn't get much of a reaction from the folk where I was, and SSI was greeted with a smattering of polite applause but the cheer for Motorcycle Emptiness signalled the tone of the evening.

I don't know that EMG acoustic was one of JDB's better choices. It was great to hear and another one to tick off the list, but they seemed reluctant to do anything that would slow the pace of the evening (quite rightly!). Perhaps why only 1 acoustic as well?

Brilliant gig - the most self assured I've seen them. Even if they do crack about Lifeblood songs at least they're playing *something* now. In 10 years time Nicky will be insisting it's their best record and I'm sure Glasnost will be a regular.

Hope they can go away and come back just as strong. Seems like they're planning a long sabbatical after that tweet last night?

I took loads of pics with my normal digital camera and no one said anything. I don't know whether it was just what they were saying at the doors but no one at the front did anything about it.
