Whilst you can complain about the predictability of the set list, they've virtually perfected the playing of their hits for venues the size of the Civic.

Loved Nicky relating the intro to Faster to the current expenses scandal.

And did I hear James say that they'd see us all again next year?
Yeah, James did look abit lonely without Nicky jumping around as well, but to be fair he more than made up for the Wires lack of movement, with all the bouncing and shed-loads of one legged-twirly-dance-thingys he does!!

It was absolutly AMAZING to see the whole of JFPL played start to finish, and what Nicky said before Williams Last Words about Richey was sooo lovely, nearly bought a tear to my eye! - Seriously!!

There was some seriously fucking rude bastards that just fucking talked through some of the acousticy songs, which fucking pissed me off (i noticed that they were the same people going mad for Design for life & Tolerate etc - bastards!)

But other than that little gripe, it was an amazing gig & the guys sounded fantastic throughout. But was real nice that it was just the 3 of them for almost all of the JFPL set. And the 2nd set rocked aswell!!

Like you siad they have pretty much perfected playing their greatest hits for venues the size of the civic.

Anyhow, i'm a SERIOUSLY happy bunny (all be it still a little bit of a deaf happy bunny!! ) I feel privaliged to have seen the first set, it aint often bands play their new album start to finish, & then come back out to play another set of 15 songs!! And sooo happy to have seen Sorrow 16 - don't think i've seen that live before, i could be wrong tho, if i have then not for a long time!!

Proper job tho boys!! Amazing work!!

Really??? At least six of their songs have stuck in my head after the last few nights.

I never thought the Manics would get a better support band than The Departure but these guys came pretty close.

Abby - I kept glancing round to see if I could spot you before the support came on but no joy! I was James-side so that was probably why I missed you! Glad there were no annoying idiots next to me chatting away - that is my absolute pet hate at gigs. My ears have more or less settled down now and can't wait to show off my pics to my workmates and slam the Stereophonics loverz! I don't want any of the songs they played to be banished cos I enjoyed them all! Thrilled to bits with the review in the Shropshire Star as well! Brilliant!

I shall say to the Stereophonics fans at work tomorrow 'Read the Shropshire Star's review and weep!'

Back at last, left Wolves at around 8:30 this morning, took Sheila back home, took Michelle back home, went to try to see my sister who had been suddenly rushed into hospital but the damn hospital car parks were full so I settled for ringing her, and going to see my mum and dad and neices, so I've only JUST got home. (She's OK, by the way, and I do NOT envy her being stuck in a hospital bed on a hot evening like this one.)

Wow. Sorry for any inaccuracies in the setlist, Button Song? I was texting by guesswork, I was so hot and dehydrated that I couldn't read the screen on my mobile, which died again during You Love Us, so I had to leave the third row where I was having the time of my fucking life and retreat to someone a teensy bit cooler. I'm going to assume that it was being my canary in a coal mine though, and warning me that I would be next if I didn't get out of the crush. I've been to a lot of Manics gigs, and that was a good one, made even better by the inclusion of Sorrow 16 in the setlist, and Nicky's obvious improvement since Llandudno. He seemed to be in better shape than he was at Glasgow, even, but that could just be better medication. James said that it was one of the top two gigs of the tour in audience response to JFPL, I assume that the other was Glasgow Next time, Manics, play Northern England eh and don't waste time with four nights in London!

James made reference to the rock history of the Midlands and acknowledged that certain parts of the song JFPL might seem familiar to some rock fans, and said that it wasn't deliberate. He didn't mention Heaven 17 and Peeled Apples. He said that it seemed that Richey had been a Giant Haystacks fan rather than a Big Daddy fan. He called Nicky the WELSH Lou Reed

Nicky's story about Richey (he always calls him 'the boy' or 'my boy') at the Wolverhampton Novotel was a good one, as recounted earlier in this thread. Nicky sang along a lot, sang his lines in YLAINE too, and did some lunges. He looked gooooooooood.

James went on about Wayne's good looks again. .

Brilliant gig, brilliant crowd, brilliant venue. I hope it's not the last time I see the Manics at Wolves Civic.

Many thanks to Finn, Michelle and Sheila for providing convivial and amusing company before the gig, and to the two locals who helped us find our way back to the Travelodge afterwards.

I was there in my Yellow Spillers T Shirt.

JFPL set was unbelievably good. Some cock behind me side kicked my calf towards the end of the gig and it's been killing me ever since - war wounds I guess...

It's disappointing that they haven't played Cardiff but I wouldn't be surprised if we get something before the end of the year

Brilliant gig.

Oh yeah, and my mum who I dragged along (wasn't really a fan) said they're a band you have to hear live and that WLW was very moving. I kept asking her if they were now her favourite band but no luck. She did, however, say that they were probably the third best band she's seen. (She sucks up to Judas Priest (I know, WTF?) and she's seen MCR twice, so, y'know) and she's been to a large amount of gigs in her time. James has an awesome voice, too.
